You should check out his Soundtrack catalog... This (Wag The Dog) but also others are really respectable, like "Local Hero", "Cal" and "A Shot At Glory". There are lots of instrumentals on those soundtracks. I remember sometimes listening to Dire Straits and thinking by myself, it would be nice to just hear the music without him singing. I don't mind him singing of course but sometimes his guitar sings better than any singer ever could... Anyway, it's worth checking it out! |

| terrapin52 (Terrapin Station, SC) | Posted: Nov 23, 2011 - 14:08 The lead guitar sounds a lot like Dire Straights, but the drums and bass in this song sound like a horrible polka. |

| Carlo9151 (Trieste) | Posted: May 18, 2011 - 08:09 hearing background music while I'm doing other things. But when they play Knopfler, I immediately start listening |
| fredriley (Nottingham, UK) | Posted: May 18, 2011 - 08:05 A bit dull for Knopfler, of whom I'm quite a fan. It's basically background music written to order, a bit like the soundtrack to Local Hero. You can tell that he's not expressing any feeling in it. No' bad, but not a patch on his real music, and goes in one ear and out the other leaving little trace of its passing. Still, that's so often the case with movie soundtracks, with a few notable exceptions. |
