| Synth80s (*Beautiful* Southern California (cough, choke, honk)) | Posted: Sep 22, 2010 - 23:25 I understand why this song is polarizing (seriously, look at the distribution of the user ratings — it's really love or hate), but it completely hits me where it counts. Sure, I listen to a lot of "serious" music, but there's no denying the energy in this tune. It just makes me want to crank the volume every time. You have to listen to it on a powerful system to really feel it, especially late in the song when the bass is sliding around like a California earthquake. I've probably played this song and album more than any other music I've purchased this year. As someone who grew up listening to this type of music the first time it came around (think 1978-1982), I think LCD Soundsystem is the real deal. Sure they borrow from the past, but they also chart their own path. All 3 of their albums are worthwhile and I like Sounds of Silver best. They're playing the Hollywood Bowl later this year — that should be one big party. |
