Wonderful song, not sure about this cover tho. I heard White Rabbit playing in my daughter's room recently and went in to discover that it was a cover by Grace Potter. Not bad!
Edit: Interesting... Wiki lists 42 different covers, there are probably more out there too. Kinda endorses my initial comment

Well, the extended coda is a bit—oh, hell, it's way—over the top, but it's hard to screw up a good song. A very long time ago Russ Syracuse on KSFO in San Francisco, an unapologetic DJ when it came to chops versus slop, cut off Dickie Betts's solo on "Jessica" saying, "I just can't play that." I feel the same way about this coda.

Dude, you nailed it!! It's Hanna Montana's psychedelic tribute album... "Donald wants to be a disco duck" and Emiliana wants to be the White Rabbit.

The original gets plenty of airplay - here and everywhere else.  It's nice to hear another take on this tune.

Decent enough in the context of the movie it was "soundtracked" to/for/with. On it's own (with no reference...), mmm, uhhhh, OK at best — it gets tedious with that synthesizer and chorus.

I love the original song, but it's fun to hear someone else take a stab at it with the ability to do more things to the accompanying music and ambient sounds. More than could be achieved when the original was recorded.

Hehe, I suspected the rating for this one would be low.  I, however, love it!   It does everything a good cover needs in my book: keeps all the charm of the original but gives it a unique twist.  An 8 for me.

how is this an improvement/ new light on the original?...and if it is not better or a new interpretation, then why bother?  Why not just give the royalties to the original people who made this song so fantastic

Dude, do you think this movie is about the government and MK-Ultra? Visit the Vigilant Citizen site. He analyzes this song and the movie.  It sorta bothers me that the promo pic makes it look like it's gonna be a fun action movie with chicks and guns, when in reality it's dark and disturbing.

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all

Go ask Alice when she's ten feet tall

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell him a hookah-smokin' caterpillar
Has given you the call

And call Alice when she was just small

When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you have just have some kind of mushroom
And your mind is movin' low

Go ask Alice, I think she'll know

And logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the white knight is talking backwards
And the red queen's off with her head

Remember
What the doormouse said
Feed your head
Feed your head
