Well, at least they were more successful than that other band "American Standard".

Amen! A treasure of a Canadian band. IMO One Chord to Another is one of the best indie rock albums I've ever heard - rockin', smart, layered. It's so ironic that Geffen dropped them (hoping they would be another Seattle pop-punk band) after Twice Removed, which has turned out to be a classic of indie pop-rock and is always in the top 5 of any Canadian albums list.

Just a bit of trivia:  Sloan's first album was recorded by my buddy Terry Pulliam in his living room, kitchen and maybe in the backyard of our co-operative housing project here in Halifax.  Terry told me that when they got a contract and the 'pros' listened to his recording they said "good job" and went with his mix.

These guys are a gem of a Canadian band,  and would love to see more of them on RP. This is a decent tune, but by no means their best. Their earlier albums Twice Removed, One Chord to Another,  and Navy Blues are indie pop classics.

If you really dig into the Sloan catalog you will find more of a Beatles pop influence on some songs than any kind of Doors wanna-bes. Saw them in 2013, very talented and the band members switch around on the instruments and have multiple lead vocalists.

I tried uploading a new one and got an insta-sorry. Thought it was a shoe-in; they have some great poppy rock songs but, alas, not on RP.

funny, my first impression was of James McMurtry (another artist I now know/love courtesy of RP — Thanks, Bill!).

Like these guys who I never heard of until now! Like where were they all these years? Then noticed that this is their debut (on Radio Paradise).
