She is benediction
She is addicted to thee
She is the root connection
She is connecting with he
Here I go and I don't know why
I fell so ceaselessly
Could it be he's taking over me...?
I'm dancing barefoot
Heading for a spin
Some strange music draws me in
Makes me come on like some heroine
She is sublimation
She is the essence of thee
She is concentrating on
He, who is chosen by she
Here I go and I don't know why
I spin so ceaselessly
Could it be he's taking over me...?
I'm dancing barefoot
Heading for a spin
Some strange music draws me in
Makes me come on like some heroine
She is re-creation
She, intoxicated by thee
She has the slow sensation that
He is levitating with she ...
Here I go and I don't know why
I spin so ceaselessly
'Til I lose my sense of gravity...
I'm dancing barefoot
Heading for a spin
Some strange music draws me in
Makes me come on like some heroine
(Oh god I fell for you...)
The plot of our life sweats in the dark like a face
The mystery of childbirth, of childhood itself
Grave visitations, what is it that calls to us?
Why must we pray screaming? Why must not death be redefined?
We shut our eyes we stretch out our arms, and whirl on a pane of glass
An affixation a fix on anything, the line of life the limb of a tree
The hands of he and the promise that he is blessed among women.
(Oh god I fell for you...)
| Ballzak | Posted: May 22, 2013 - 15:58 Eeee-freaking-gads. Maybe some heroine would help my ears modulate to this annoyance. Somebody out there be my heroine.... come sprinting over the broken glass and pour hot wax into my earholes. Anything. Just make it go away. Aaaaaaaahhh! PSD. I feel better already. |
| Lazarus (Bethany) | Posted: May 16, 2013 - 11:00 marvelous... |
| pink (Germermany) | Posted: May 02, 2013 - 11:23 How about his cover?? And Patti is in the audience: |
| ckcotton (Adding snarky comments since 2007) | Posted: Mar 20, 2013 - 21:14 U2 barely pulled this off... Patti is definitely NOT! |
| Lazarus (Bethany) | Posted: Mar 19, 2013 - 19:14 "She is sublimation"... Freud described sublimation as the diversion of psychic energy derived from sexual impulses into nonsexual activity, especially of a creative nature... profound... love this song... |

| Lazarus (Bethany) | Posted: Feb 28, 2013 - 21:00 Everybody in my church loves this song... |
| Delawhere | Posted: Feb 11, 2013 - 08:17 She never really did that much for me until I saw her live. I have a whole new respect for her and I am listening closely. Brilliant songwriter, an all out force of barefoot dancing. |

Indeed, that was my first exposure to the song, and until I read the comments here I thought this was Patti Smith covering The Mission :o). This original is pretty damn good, though, an easy 8. Experienced Pearl Jam cover this at Bridge School Benefit 2010, I think? It was awesome. This song has been covered quite a bit as you can see by other responses below. |

| dc_zee | Posted: Nov 11, 2012 - 12:02 Could you please explain to me just what the hell she's ranting about with the phrase "the transformation of waste"? My guess is that it's the "waste" of the body. The energy/spirit of the body is transformed from the corporal. E.g. "why must not death be redefined?" Or.... maybe she's just taking out the garbage... |

"Till Victory" rocks. So does "Rock N Roll N****r", but it's a tough sell in these PC times. It was hilarious to watch Patti introduce her performance of "Rock N Roll N****r" at her RRHOF induction as a song her mom requested..."the one I do my vacuuming to..." |

"Space Monkey" popped up randomly on my i-pod yesterday. Hadn't heard it in a long time. Still a weird "song" after 34 years. "This is just, this is just, this is just my, THIS IS JUST MY JACKKNIFE!" That prompted me to throw on Side 2 of my vinyl copy of Easter for the first time in a VERY long time. Could you please explain to me just what the hell she's ranting about with the phrase "the transformation of waste"? |

| dwlangham (Nowhere to be found) | Posted: Apr 27, 2012 - 08:11 I don't know what I was doing in 1979 that kept me from hearing this song. Probably listening to the death throes of Led Zeppelin and wearing out my Rolling Stones Hot Rocks tape. And God forgive me: Listening to Styx and Journey. Don't judge me: I was young. |
