Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh, let's go back to the start

Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads on a science apart

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

Oh, take me back to the start

I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart

Questions of science
Science and progress
Don't speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh, and I rush to the start

Running in circles
Chasing tails
Coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh, it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard

I'm going back to the start

I guess you have to be Johnny Cash to pull off the hip geezer cover.
Oh no! I think I've been permanently scarred. {#Razz} What producer in their little mind thought this was a good idea? The need a good beating to extract a promise not to do this again. {#Beat} Bill clearly feels differently about this song. But I think you should stick to the Aimee Mann cover.

You got to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em.
Willie needs to fold.
Interesting.  But I think Willie should avoid any songs that require voice sustain on the high notes.

Can't sleep. Coldplay will go country. Can't sleep. Coldplay will go country. Can't sleep...

Well played, my friend. Well played.
I came here just to read the comments. I knew there'd be a shitstorm.
With earlobes like that, why can't he hear how bad this is?

All this does for me is to think about the nightmare of Coldplay changing genres to doing Country. I won't sleep now.

Someone gave this a 10.  Really?

A ruined song and a ruined reputation all in one.
yeah.... no.   I've been a Willie fan for many years and this just doesn't do him any good at all.

Trust me, guys like Willie and The Man in Black didn't want to sing this crap. Their producers put em up to it in order to cross over to a younger audience.

Why should we trust you?  Who are you and how do you come by the facts in your statement? Have you ever talked to either of them about this subject?   Read a biography perhaps?   Inquiring minds would like to know.
Cash covering NIN and Soundgarden: edgy.
Nelson covering Coldplay, pretty....but Yawn!
Willie, why?
thanks for pronouncing 'progress' correctly Willie  {#Music}
Really? Really? With all the great musical art out there?
A VERY clear....  "No Thank You!!!"
Truly awful...

I'm just guessing here, but I wonder how much this song speaks to Willie.  At his age I would think that he must feel a connection and this is his way of expressing it.

Whether or not it should be covered is another question.  As I listen to it, my first thought is I don't really like it, but if I take into consideration his past it takes, on new meaning and becomes a song I can appreciate.  First time I've actually listened to the lyrics.  Something I didn't do when Cold Play sang the song.

If Willie Nelson wants to sing a Cold Play number, just let him. His interpretation is great and it certainly adds something unexpected, which works completely to me. Very different to whats already out there.

I loath this track.

But I love that it is on the playlist on the basis it is a brave move.

So do I rate it a 1 or a 10?

. . . confused. . .
Needless and poor cover version of a great song. Vote: 1  {#Sick}

Willie Nelson covering Coldpay :: unlikely.
RP playing an unlikely cover :: highly likely.

I don't love the tune. But I love that Bill G. does this.
Lovely cover. I like the simplicity.

Oh wow....

I see there are several people liking this. I can't help but wonder if these people would like it if this man's name wasn't Willie Nelson but just some random old man.

Oh well, i think it's a new level of horrible.

{#Yell}

Not good..
i love this man.
H8ing on Willie just feels un-American.  Shame on you all.  10 in defiance.
Bummer PSD doesn't work.  Time to mute.  This really is horrible.

C'mon Willie. Friggin Coldplay! These guys can't write songs half good as you can.

Love this cover. Heard it on the soundtrack of "the judge". I love cover versions of pop songs, redone by old man with voices that just tell all the age, the hardship or booze, the experiences they had.
So go ahead, Mr Nelson, do a couple of cover albums like Johnny Cash.
I never heard Willie's version of this before and all I can say is WOW its FN Great
I think part of the problem for some listeners is that they tend to pigeonhole performers, and when someone crosses over to another genre it doesn't compute. I love listening to crossovers. They're not always good but Willie nails this one!!
Wow! This blew me away. Willie has always had an amazing voice but the texture of his "older voice"is even more fascinating and he absolutely kills this cover!! Love it!!
There is no reason that this cover should exist.  none.
You all are nuts!  Great cover.

To listen to Willie Nelson singing this song!
I find myself feeling a little embarrassed for Mr. Nelson...
Although I enjoy Willie from time to time, this just doesn't seem to be working.{#Ask}
I almost always appreciate how lBiill pushes my musical limits, but this is not one of those times
Paul Anka got away with covering Pop/Rock classics in his Swing style but Willie - no, no, no. Stick with murdering Country songs.
**MUTE** {#No}
Reminds me of a failed love.

Just because you can does not mean you should.  I generally like Willie but this is nails meeting chalk board bad.  Though as someone mentioned the arrangement is nice.  PSDing here I come.
Music - good.
Voice - oh dear.
Oh dear... oh no....no Willie. Not this song.
Glad Bill enjoys all your comments.... and then still plays want he wants.   Willie enjoys the same privileges.
So much better than Chrissie Hynde's version.

That's just TURRIBLE!

Sorry Willie, this song does not work with your voice. I like the instrumental arrangement though.
{#Eyes}  Wow, now that's something different!!!
Gawd. This is awful.

I have yet to hear a cover of this that I like. The original is lovely.
Bah!

C'mon. At this point Willie can do whatever he wants. Besides, Johnny is dead.

Love Willie, but shoulda' left this one to Johnny Cash.

Yes. I would rather hate JC's version than Willie's.
Ouch.
Um ... Ah ...
Really enjoyed this... it also reminded me of Johnny Cash.

Sweet Jesus!

I mostly like Coldplay (they can get old after a while) and I like this song. I have heard one cover which was OK.

This cover is not OK. Sounds like asthmatic cat trying to sing it.

All respect to Willie Nelson, but this song is not for him and not for that "country modulation". Feels unnatural, at best. Feels like a lone cat in February, at worst parts.
Not a Willie Nelson fan, but like this cover quite a lot...even with the Hawaiian guitars.
Somehow, it just doesn't work.   At all.

Did I really just hear that?

Love Willie, but shoulda' left this one to Johnny Cash.
Love Willie, and Coldplay... but I'm not sure about this one.
