Damn - he knew he was dying, so he went out twisting and shouting. So typical of him - he never did anything halfway. He always took on life full-tilt with all ailerons open and maybe the parachute would open. I miss my friend Warren. . . Cyanaera comment on Warren Zevon's Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner

After wondering why we hadn't heard from Cynaera lately, I found this sad topic. Cynaera (Ann) was one of the best RP members, IMO. Her comments were great and projected a wonderful personality that I always looked forward to seeing. She definitely had a great flair for civil discourse. A comment I wanted to use for nasty or feuding posters was, "Civility, please! Don't make me have to get Cynaera on your case—you'll regret it!" Sadly, we can't do that now. I really miss her.

crockydile wrote:Hate this. So bouncy and happy. Oh, shut up. You have a few bouncy-happy songs in your "9" list. Then again, your idea of bouncy and happy is probably not the same as mine, but THE BEACH BOYS? Onny thing bouncyhappier than that would be Katrina and the Waves. (And I like "Walking on Sunshine," thankyouverymuch.) Also - take into consideration the year this song was released. It was before the loss of innocence, the meth problem, metal-detectors in schools, strip-searches at airports, and all manner of other stuff into which I don't want to delve here. Still, you've got a hell of a great selection of stuff that you rated "10." Sorry you don't like Buddy Holly, but even if you can't change your mind, I hope you'll remember that he was a pioneer of the music you're listening to today. He took risks, fought hard for his music, and left a legacy. If for no other reason, ya gotta admire him for that. — We now return you to your regularly-scheduled hootenanny, already in progress...— |

I'll really miss her :( So now who the hell is going to keep Stingray in line?? Looks like you're volunteering!

I was always attracted to RP for its diverse new music. For the most part you get that, Then there are days when music like this slips into the playlist and you want to slit your wrists. Well, word of advice - next time you feel like slitting your wrists, use a scalpel and open your carotid artery instead. You'll bleed out much quicker that way. |

As only an occasional song commenter and forum illiterate, I just found this news. I just responded to one of her past kind, sweet comments to me! How sad. Reminds me of a Patty Griffin song line about how long it takes for people to "really disappear." Apparently I've been missing Cynaera's comments for quite a while now. RIP Cynaera.

I love how people take portions of this song and apply it to their lives throughout time. I took the song in its entirety and applied it to my life (yes, my life was that insane), but now, just a few lines seem to fit where I am now. Who knew that Jackson Browne would be such a visionary? Amazing that an entire song could be segregated and applied to so many individual circumstances...
Jackson Browne will always be one of the first artists who springs to mind when someone asks me, "Who were your biggest influences?" |

Indeed. Fountain of Sorrow, Jackson Browne

I remember when she posted this one about Muddy Waters, Good Morning Schoolgirl. (My upload) Muddy Waters can't hold a candle to John Lee Hooker when it comes to singing about sex. I wasn't sure if it was a compliment or what. Then I just saw this comment about John Lee Hooker, Spellbound. So, I'm driving my 1974 Plymouth Satellite, packed full of very conservative people, and the John Lee Hooker song "I'm In the Mood" starts playing on the radio (AM - no FM on this rig), which was cranked up because of Katrina and the Waves, and suddenly, the whole car-group goes silent. Apparently, they didn't understand "THE BLUES." I still have a hard time (no pun intended) listening to JLH, because his music just offends me. I KNOW that "the blues" don't just include being in the mood for love, but it seems to me that sex is the primary topic in most of his stuff.I know I'll wake up tomorrow after having been haunted by nightmares of people posting their anger/outrage/hostility at me.
I guess I got my answer.
I miss her.
