We watched "Mass" last night, and it was very difficult but well done. Since it mostly revolves around two couple and their conflict, it felt very much like "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf." But it was smartly written, that is, not pandering to one obvious viewpoint. I think it was good, but it's definitely not a feel-good movie. But, you get some superb acting. They all take their characters and knock them out of the park.

SPOILER: the trailer tells you the theme. You might want to go into it cold like we did.

While making fun of the MAGA movement as an invented DON'T LOOK UP movement, I fail to get, why folks here at RP indulge on this feces, as if it could ever become a worthy discussion of being one of two choices left for a voter to choose, while the media keep teaching us it is, apparently very successfully.  - All sheeples here!?

Yeh, I can't say  it was a brilliant movie, but it passed the time amiably enough, but I don't get the hype at all.

I didn't get that it was a full dig at the MAGA crowd more than I thought it was a commentary on the US political system overall, sheeple governed by people who have a completely different agenda propped up by the media and a politicisation of the security and intelligence branches.
I thought the coked up Chief of Staff was a mash of Hunter Biden and Trump Jr; I thought the Prez persona was more reminiscent of Hillary or a Democrat Prez than of Trump, though the rally scenes were obviously based on MAGA rallies....because 6 people sitting in little circles as a cover for Biden being unable to draw anyone into coming to hear him speak would just be weak, and I thought that that was obvious.
I didn't get the comet as an analogy for whatever it is meant to be, but that's because the Doomsday Climate event everyone is shitting themselves over is way, way out of my daily consciousness, and that's a different discussion.

I think its just satire and somewhat clever at times, overall it is just being critical of the general dysfunctionality that characterises the relationship between media, the Government and the people.
I completely don't get that it is about one side over another, and completely didn't grock the Doomsday Climate story.

I probably would have preferred watching the new Sandra Bullock movie for a second time.

kurtster,  You should watch the film.  For entertainment purposes and to prove to yourself and the rest of us that you are not some mindless partisan warrior.

My favourite novelist is a Marxist.  (Technically Neo-Marxist.)   I probably disagree with this (now dead) author on all kinds of policy issues.   Still did not prevent me from enjoying his novels and short stories.

Yeah, like that will ever happen.  When pigs fly, maybe.

Regarding the politics of artists, if I only listened to music made by artists that I agreed with politically, it would be rather quiet in my world.

And actually watch a movie ?  I already know how this one ends thanks to reading the link.  Same as they always do.  The survivors get eaten.  Makes me think of something I once saw about a cookbook.  The title of the cookbook was To Serve Man IIRC ...

And then use two and a half man hours to watch people make people like me, the butt of their joke.  I really don't think so.  I'll get my laughs somewhere else.  My time is best focused on other things.

If you like and enjoy the movie, fine with me.  I'm just writing it off as propaganda and moving on.

Agreed.  I enjoyed it as contemporary political satire.   Not a great movie but more than entertaining enough.

Felt the urge the rewrite parts of the film.....  never a good feeling. Not pretending any particular competence here; just take the 'feeling' at face value.

And the "my freedom is more important than your facts" crowd is well represented, even to the end of the movie.

Don't watch the trailer. More fun to watch things unfold without expecting them.
