I can understand why people would think this, but Houston is a very diverse place with a lot of cultures mixing.  So I kind would expect this coming from there.

Check this band out, they have quite a few mesmerizing instrumentals. The guitarist has serious chops.
This tune, in my opinion, is not representative of their best stuff.
