It was a mac song long before it was a solo Bob Welsh song.  Bob Welsh (the guy who wrote the song) was in the band Fleetwood Mac in 1972 when this song was written and released on the 'Bare Trees' album.  5 years later he released it on his first solo album 'French Kiss'.    I have to agree though, the solo version is a bit better.

Love's Baby Soft?  Funny, that reminds me of a (very cute) girl from high school who walked around in a cloud of "Shower to Shower" aroma. It's a vivid sense memory.

I agree about the recording sounding different from what I remember.

Damn, I have that album (French Kiss, not Fleetwood Mac).  Poor Bob, didn't know.  We'll miss you.  

Wouldn't mind hearing that version instead of this one.  No turntable though...

Well, at least Bob Welch lives on in his music. It's great to be a talented musician or an artist. They leave behind something that continues to give so many joy long for so long after they're gone.

Bob Welch wrote it and recorded it with Fleetwood Mac on Bare Trees, then re-recorded and released it on a solo album about five years later - which became a hit.

This song used to be played on the opening of the 'Oldies 105.5' radio show back in the mid 90's here in Córdoba, Argentina. 
Never found out what the song name or interpreter was until pointed to by a friend in the same day Bob Welch passed..... sad he passed the way he did, glad to finally find the song and able to remember him through it...

I feel the same way. I have had thoughts about getting off this crazy bus we call earth sometimes, but fortunately I wake up with the desire to keep my seat on this merry-go-round and hope to be listening to the sounds and seeing the beautiful sights for many years to come. I hope Bob is in the company of friends and happiness surrounds him. This album has always been one of my most favorite, guess because it was the very first Fleetwood Mac album I bought when it was first released. I'll listen to the last cut tonight, when the old woman recites a poem at the end of the last song.

Old Fleetwood Mac songs need to be played more often!  Up to, but not necessarily including the Stevie Nicks/Lindsay Buckingham era.

I absoluely love the stuff.
