Took my kids 15,8,3 to a Los Lobos show at this great small outdoor amphetheater at a local winery that usually has cover bands (which are usually pretty great as well). We got to lean against the stage and watch the pros play. I already liked and knew a lot of their work but was floored, one of the best shows I've ever seen.

I agree, but Tin Can Trust and Good Morning Aztlan are right up there in contention.  Also "This Time" has some really interesting stuff on it.  "The Town and the City".....Well I guess I will stop there

Los Lobos continues to demonstrate their versatility - this is different from some of the stuff I've heard them do, and it's definitely a departure from "Will The Wolf Survive?"  I really love their music. {#Bounce}

My kids were 10 and 8 and listened to the CD nonstop.  I found out Los Lobos will be coming to a music festival our town has each year.  I'm pumped.  The kids, who are now in their twenties, will be in town for that one ;^)

I have Kiko and, although none of the songs contain my favorite elements of music, the album is so good and so unique all the way through that I recommend it to all my friends.

Belize??!!! Los Lobos is an accomplished genre-bending band that does Latino roots music as good as anyone, but to me they are emphatically Borderlands and el Norte de Mexico. I don't see how you get Central America from this or other of their songs. In my travels around southern Mexico and Centroamerica I usually get a mishmash of cumbia, musica tropical, trovas, the usual salsa and merengue borrowed from el Caribe, and of course the everpresent Latinpop. Shoot, Belize has more musical connections with reggae and Jamaican dancehall than it does with the rest of centroamerica. Maybe I am taking you too literally. But I do think its important to get our words and imagery right with what other places are really like. At any rate, LL is one damn good band. pianocomposer wrote:

Still another thing I love about Tucson: the Lobos visit every year. Hopefully, they won't be doing a duet with Everlast or Rob Thomas any time soon... Great band, likeable tune.

A song like this seems to be strengthened by the other songs on Kiko. So maybe it'll help when you listen to that album as a whole and not just to only one song on it.
