It's so easy to slip
It's so easy to fall
And let your memory drift
And do nothin' at all
All the love that you missed
All the people that you can't recall
Do they really exist at all

Well my whole world seems so cold today
All the magics's gone away
And our time together melts away
Like the sad melody I play

Well I don't want to drift forever
In the shadow of your leaving me
So I'll light another cigarette
And try to remember to forget

It's so easy to slip
It's so easy to fall
And let your memory drift
And do nothin' at all
All the love that you missed
All the people that you can't recall
Do they really exist at all

Oh, my.  The simple augmented pleasures.

Did you ever figure them out?  Are you willing to share?

i'm not familiar with this one either, which surprises me. i love little feat. this is great! thanks, RP!

sure is an...interesting album cover. i'm still trying to figure out the story.
Feat!

I most definitely am not scratching anything.   The song does scratch my itch for excellent, melodic rock and roll, as does the rest of this album, the one that preceded it and the five that followed.  It is rock and roll.  What do you mean by "serious"?
The chiming opening chords of this are my ringtone!

Always makes my day when I hear tunes from the Sailin' Shoes album -- this is one of my all time favorites.

Is this some inside joke between you and ?. It makes no sense at all to me.

With respect, you may be too young.  This didn't get lots of airplay, even in its day.  None at all in the last ten years, I'll bet -- except here!

Whenever I hear upbeat Feat, I get that visual of Snoopy dancing with his face to the sky and his feet fluttering.

love this song...

"what's wrong with clean feet?"

KFAT music is good music!
The album was actually released in 1972 (the CD in 1987).
Nice song, but all average 8 .0 rating seems bloated. I'll give it a few more listens.

Used to hear this all the time as a kid. Never really got tired of it then. Still haven't. Sounds like a cross between Three Dog Night and CSN...had forgotten that this was Little Feat.

Just listened to clips from Sailin' Shoes—sounds like it's an amazing album.

god, I love this album...Lowell George was a genius.
There are many songs that I wish I could delete from the mental hard drive.  Then I hear ones like this, and it's such a pleasure to know every note (and to remember the track that came next on album - think I'll go play Cold Cold Cold and sing really LOUD).
Really like this. Why is it I've never heard it before, until I came to RP?
What a song!!! One of my all-time favorites.

Too bad it only got a short snippet on Almost Famous.

George is soooo missed in music today.
Oh for the days when I had the time to sit for hours, trying to figure out the chords to this.

Lowell - come back, come back.
That cool guitar and driving rhythm reminds me of and makes me want to hear something from Keith Richards' Talk Is Cheap...  GO, RP, let's keep things jammin' on this hot and sunny summer afternoon here!

Ah, Lowell George. The world could use you.

Hmm, I have a wife who could do with listening to little feat ... {#Rolleyes}

1972, the same year Steely Dan released "Can't Buy a Thrill."

Sigh. Music sure was better in the 70s . . .
I think that snail has really bad intentions. Watch out Cupcake!!!
Another oldie but goodie that RP has surprised me with. I just rediscovered this one a few years ago. Heard it constantly 25 years ago, but it slipped my mind in the intervening years.

It certainly was played at all our parties! Still is!! Has never lost it's power to make me smile.
A must have LP.

Love this band and all of it's various incarnates! Saw them just a few months ago at the BellyUp. Excellent as always! Came out smiling, and it lasted for days! Great band. Bill Payne blows me away!
Fits in this rotation this evening!!
To borrow a quote, " This song is soooo good for the ears..."

A little Zen koan from Little Feat?  Hmmm... {#Think}

I don't know, sounds a little ego-centric to me. It would be more zen if it said;

"All the people that you can't recall
Do you really exist at all?"

"All the people that you can't recall

A little Zen koan from Little Feat?  Hmmm... {#Think}
I'd rate this 11 if I could......
When I first heard this song back in 87, I thought that Buffalo Springfield had reunited.
Perhaps this is why Lowell George wasn't fond of it. It is a definite departure from the usual "Feet" sound.
Steven Stills could have written it.

Thank you for playing this. Makes life worth getting out of bed for today after three weeks.
The Feat cain't be beat! Still holds up head and shoulders above most of today's weedy offerings
Love me some Feat! Wish we got more of the Waiting For Columbus versions of these songs as well, but this album is a classic!
Used to love how efficiently smooth the inside of this album cover was.

Thanks Bill, I can now face the world outside.

Well, of course, any Fragonard Rococo masterpiece is familiar. daveesh wrote:

Amazing...real music
whew! This brings back some stoney memories! One of the best Little Feat albums out there.

Could have sworn it was The Band.

I've never heard the Dead play.
Me either. That's probably why I don't like the Dead. Wow, I love the classic Little Feat...the modern stuff, while respectable, just holds no soul in comparison. Most excellent.
Love this band when Lowell George was still alive, saw them when Craig Fuller was doing vocal fo them, not bad but , only LG could true lay down the vibe this band had.
Yet one group that understand the basic settings, must include a HAMMOND! #9.

I totally agree. I have loved this band since I was a teen. Used to own the LP... They are just plain ole' good rock n' roll!

gotta love the Feat!

That is correct. Bob Weir covered it, and a rather weak rendition as I recall. All watered down and lacking the energy of Lowell's vision.
Love, love, love THE FEAT!
I've never heard the Dead play. Bob Weir's solo band played it, I beleive. Leslie wrote:

tremendous musicianship...
YYYYYYES!!! Love this Feats classic. Interesting that Lowell appently didn't think much of this song and rarely if ever, played it in concert. I think it rocks. God I love the Lowell era Feats.
One of my favorite albums from them and a great song to boot.

Feat rule!
Although I have heard a lot about them, I've never actually heard Little Feat before. Outstanding.
I still like the first album the best-with Ry Cooder!

Absolutely agree. Most of the live versions on it are much better than the originals, which were already awesome!

I agree.
Also a great use of this song in the Cameron Crowe movie "Almost Famous". Like Bonnie Raitt said "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being 8 years old"
Don't know why I didn't know this was a Little Feat song. I have a Bob Weir solo album and he does this. Now I know it's a cover. Great Song!
Waiting for Columbus is still one of the best live album's made, have to add that to the all time LF list.
An excellent tune from what I would posit to be the single best Little Feat album, though Dixie Chicken is right behind, in my book. Thanks, RP.
Thank you Bill - a great selection from the most underappreciated band ever.

Paul Barrierre and Lowell George, in the same band!
Actually, Paul wasn't in the band at the time of this recording. Funny, this is one of my favorites from what is probably my favorite band of all times but apparently Lowell didn't care much for this song and rarely played it in concert.
Nice pick Bill...
LG you rock(ed)...saw 'em twice in the 70's...pissed off I had to pay $11 or whatever...what a band...
Paul Barrierre and Lowell George, in the same band!

You said it, Sharkster. The live version of "Willin'" on Waiting for Columbus is probably on my top-three-of-all-time list. What an artist; what a band.

Love this song! These guys were phenomenal live.
Love the time signature... What a band..
Brain still bleeding..gahhhhhhhhhhh
Little Feat is playing a bar 2 hours away next week. Look forward to drinking myself silly and thinking of Lowell George. Thanks Bill
Oh yeah, Baby! (where do you think my name comes from?) Another \"crank the tunes and screw my coworkers\" song!
\"The Bees Knees!\" I asked a friend which Little Feat album I should get back in 1974 when everyone I knew was listening to them and he recommended Sailing Shoes. I was listeing to other types of stuff at the time. It was instantly great with my first listening in 74 and remains, well, a milestone in my music library.
I love Little Feat, and this is one of my faves. Keep \'em comin!
Feats Never Fail!
oneathebest!
Man, I LOVE this tune! Feat are definatlely one of my favourite bands, and this track is at the top of my list of favourite Feat tunes!
