a new band to me and loving the groove
Hey how about some "Cold Blood" with Lydia Pense in the spirit of the "San Francisco" sound.

Flames will be deserved for this... But... Joy Of Cooking is to Janis Joplin... as Canada is to the United States. Still... this is really... REALLY good!
Would that be north of Janis Joplin?
a "5" then. a "4" now. actually, this is about the worst blues singing ever!
Well said...except this bass player is a lot better than Janis's. bobringer wrote:

i was born too late. great song...first time I've heard this band. Thanks Bill!
...As opposed to poor George Bailey, who was born older.

She sounds like Susan Tedeschi ... or vice versa.
Great stuff! My brother-in-law used to talk about the Joy of Cooking a lot, but I have yet to pry any of their old LP's from his clutches, and can't seem to procure any copies of my own. The other band he often mentioned in conjunction with this one was Zephyr...could you play some of that, too, so I could get a quick hit of their sound? Love to hear this kind of 70's soulful rock.
30 years old? it still rocks...
It is the first time I post a comment, even though I have listen RP for more than a year. THANKS FOR ALL THE GOOD MUSIC and for the opportunity to discover old artists. listen to new proposals, etc. I had not listen to Joy of Cooking before and I liked it... even though I agree they sound pretty much like J Joplin I will appreciate if you provide more information about this group. Saludos desde Mexico!!

It doesn't matter how Bill makes me feel...I am old. Well, almost. I missed this one the first time around an AMG has little to say about these guys - other than release dates that suggest I shouldn't have missed them....
Sounds too much like Janis, I hate Janis Gotta be a 1

Talk about your blasts from the past! Wasn't familiar with this cut, but used to dig "Mockingbird," and a bunch of others--that I had forgotten in the 30 years since I last heard them.
This is horrible!
Janis would approve.
Joy of Cooking -- wow, that's going back aways. Not my favorite song of theirs (love their harmonies) but still nice to hear. Speaking of harmonies, is "Castles" even available any more?
