Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends
So Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV?
Dialing for dollars is trying to find me
I wait for delivery each day until three
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town?
I'm counting on you, Lord, please don't let me down
Prove that you love me and buy the next round
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town?
Everybody!

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
That's it!

Won't be popular but this is the only song that makes me scramble to the mute button on RP. It is awful.

Looks like it may have been a 356

It's a Black Friday consumer set.

One year later and the joke is still there :D

Since always.

Heh, "Dialing for Dollars." I wonder how many people remember that show? It resides in the vague recesses of my TV memories from the 1960s.

The gig was that you had to be watching the show and they would call you, asking you to answer something (the current jackpot value maybe?). For each call that went unanswered or had the wrong response, the jackpot would go up.

Such innocent times ....
Since when were Porsche better than a Mercedes Benz?

Don't care. It's still a ten (10).
Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. The best part of this song is the length, only have to suffer for 1:44.
But, But,
she drove a Porsche!
(356 cabriolet)
Hmmm?

7 Months ago, we had the same trio...

I'm Busted - Ray Charles
Mercedes Benz - Janis Joplin
Easy Money - Rickie Lee Jones
Nice enough song, but not really good for a "radio" mix.
Any song from this album never fails to remind me of my beautiful Mom...visions of her cleaning the house with it blasting and Mom wailin' along with Janis...thanks for the memories, B&R!

Oh Lord, please stop "how can anyone not love this song" comments. (BTW, I love this song, don't get me wrong.)
Sad about the whole 27 Club thing...but sad enough to add extra ratings points?  Nope.  Still not there for me at least.
It's al about the poetry. I love those lyrics.
