"deluxe is a great cd, and this is a fabulous song. on a whim i went to see them live back in 1997 (anne preven's band Ednaswap opened for them) and was blown away. they have great energy, great presence, and play really well. it was soo cool to see the lead singer of a band smile when he sings...refreshing. at the end, they did a bunch of obscure covers that was truly unexpected. i'd recommend both getting this cd, the one after it, and seeing them live. i know i liked them a lot better after i saw them in person."

My guilty pleasure band, this whole album is great. My girlfriend way back then gave me this album and I loved it, still do. And the Hootie and the Blowfish album too, why not?

No my friend, it's completely "in the box" and typical of the standard radio rock of the times - fits well with the two you mentioned.

You want "out of the box" then we want to hear Radiohead and Cake.

This indeed sounds like a great live band. But even in this studio recording there is a lot of energy. Kevin's voice sound a bit like 10'000 maniacs Terry.

gosh, these guys were so great live...saw them about 4 times, i think, in the late 90's. lots of fun. i have fond memories of this whole album. don't care if it's dated, or not considered "great music". i like it a lot, still.

This strikes me as mechanical and antiseptic. With the idea behind these lyrics, the song should be infused with emotion. And it isn't.

Couldn't agree more. A steady diet of this stuff? No. But once in a while, in the middle of the day, it's nice to get one of those, "ah, I remember what I was doing when this song was out" moments.

Recorded a cover of this acoustically with a friend and he was so impressed he said it sounded "better than better than ezra." We both busted out laughing. Not sure it actually did but we laugh everytime we hear this song. Saw Kevin and crew live in Denver. Very good show. He's writing songs for like Jessica Simpson now. All their albums have something good on them.

How Does Your Garden Grow has some great stuff, but I consider them part of that downward trend where promising artists of the mid to late 90's were producing crap by the 00's... BTE, Third Eye Blind, Liz Phair...

Caught them at the Belly Up this summer for what, $10? Great energy & chemistry w/ the audience. You forget just how good a band is, then you see them with <600 people in a bar. I still have their CDs in the car, cranked way up.

Yes!! One of the most entertaining/personable live bands ever. My favorite part was when they played familiar opening drum licks, and made the audience guess what song it was (i.e. Sunday Bloody Sunday)!
