Excellent artist, excellent song.

I think you are right on the mark. I believe I recall that Lennon did "approve" of Marianne's rendition. From everything known about John Lennon, it would seem likely he would.
Agree. Wish Bill would play it more.
When mere words aren't enough---- :P :P :P :P
Struggling to comprehend how some of the stuff I upload gets rejected and this crap makes it...
Somebody quick! Hand her a cough drop. Poor thing, sounds like she\'s in pain -- bless her heart.

well, those 'expensive' electronica are made for the working class, right? It seems she wanted to take revenge on Mick, if he hated this song. He probably does now.

Today has been a day of also rans.

I couldn't have said it better. I totally agree.
Awesome song, For a second I thought it was tina turner.
She has smoked too many cigarettes - that\'s why her voice is shot.

following up supertramp\'s logical song with marianne faithful can cause serious brain damage yes, that can cause brain damage, too. come back to us, bill. everyone is allowed to throw a spoke at some time during the day, but to do it so early in the day is frightening.
Are we sure Marianne is a female? You cant tell by the voice....
I have a vague recollection that Marianne was raised as something of an aristocrat. Gives this tune a bit of a piquant touch. Goes well with the hilarious (mostly)comments below. Rock on, Marianne!
I enjoy a bit of Marianne now and then!
i think i\'m going to be sick...
loved johns song had soul, this seems to miss
Well, I for one think that her voice is PERFECT for a song about working class heros and I bet John would agree!
Yet another example of a burned-out 60\'s ruined voice.
Styx\'s \"Blue Collar Man\" is more inspired than this...
Hey, hand grandma the microphone! I\'d like to know who gave this a \"10\".
This is exceptionally bad and does no justice to the original.
So, in the opinion of DB, someone like Marianne Faithful in fact OWES money to the cigarette company's! (If that was the case, Frank Sinatra, as usual, would get away with it for free) :p
She was on Jonathon Ross\' chat show last night (5/4/02). Normally his \'singer\' guests sing. Marianne didn\'t, I wonder why? Maybe it\'s because the auld coot can\'t.
Bill G. I think it works both ways, as did Marianne by all accounts
thanks for this cover!
