Thought I saw a man brought to life
Yeah, he was warm, he came around, like he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry

Well, you couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know or seem to care what your heart is for
I don't know him anymore

There's nothing where he used to lie
My conversation has run dry
That's what's going on
Nothing's fine I'm torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed, lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late
I'm already torn

So, I guess the fortune teller's right
I should have seen just what was there and not some holy light
But you crawled beneath my veins and now

I don't care, I have no luck
I don't miss it all that much
There are just so many things
That I can't touch, I'm torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed, lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late
I'm already torn

That's what's going on
Nothing's right, I'm torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed, lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I'm ashamed, bound and broken on the floor
You're a little late
I'm already torn

It's too late, I'm torn

I like this version better....

Can I get a better Edna?
If I'd never heard the Natalie Imbruglia version, my reaction would be somewhere in the neighborhood of "There's a really good song in there somewhere, but they don't quite pull it off."  Whatever little adjustment it needed, Natalie Imbruglia adjusted it.
Both versions are awful. Not RP material in my view...
Pretty..............awful.

Running joke back when this song (sung by Natalie Imbruglia) was played on more than just Pop radio in the late 90's:

Me:   Hey Carolyn...
Wife: Yes?...
Me: Umm....I didn't hear "Torn" today
Wife: Huh?

Though I've enjoyed Indie/Alternative/Progressive rock almost exclusively for a very long time, this Pop hit followed me like an adopted shelter pooch for two years. It was frightening. It was an exceedingly rare day where I didn't hear at least a couple of bursts of it.

Sounds like Melissa Etheridge. That's not a compliment to this version. Also, I like the Natalie Imbruglia version better, which isn't necessarily a compliment to the Natalie Imbruglia version.
Both versions are weak sauce.

So this is the original, eh?

@ginger Natalie Imbruglia made it famous, but she didn't write it.

That's the one I like, too.
Apparently this song was originally released in 1995 on their "Ednaswap" debut album, then re-released on this album in 1997.

I think this is the original.

Is this song really worthy of multiple recorded versions?
Not as good as original in my humble opinion.

Arrgh...it's driving me crazy...I can't remember...who did this song originally?? I'm thinking I liked the original version better.
Is this good? I'm not sure yet. It's not bad....Hey! I'm first!
