Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known
Can't live for tomorrow,
Tomorrow's much too long
I'll burn my eyes out
Before I get out

I wanted more
Than life could ever grant me
Bored by the chore
Of saving face

Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known
Can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
Before I get out

Pink ribbon scars
That never forget
I tried so hard
To cleanse these regrets
My angel wings
Were bruised and restrained
My belly stings

Today is
Today is
Today is
The greatest day

I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you

Today is the greatest
Today is the greatest day
Today is the greatest day
That I have ever really known

This song and many other Smashing Pumpkins tunes helped form the background of my college years.  Now that I'm older I listen to them more closely and enjoying them more than ever! GREAT ROCK!
Riding as a courier in PDX, zooming through traffic, wet streets, getting high in the parks, and this album on auto reverse on the Walkman.  How I miss those days.

Same. Southsider's don't hate, they're jealous. LOL, not of the Cubs, that would be ridiculous!
Poor Billy Corgan. He really really  wanted Cherub Rock to be The Single from this album, and he's stuck with Today. Good song though.
This track and the whole album is absolutely awesome 👏

Wow.

How did they tune that chain saw under water, to get that sound?

Must be worthy of some kind of an award!
What a freaking good song. Siamese Dream and Gish are my favourite Pumpkins albums without a doubt!
A shame that Billy Corgan had to go and lose his mind. Ah well.

Oh look it's Billy Batboy and he's all grown up
I'm not hitting PSD, but I'm definitely not a fan of this track.

I can see where your name comes from.

Excellent! You know that I appreciate great RnR. Like what you find on Dylan's "Blood On The Tracks" album. Check out the song, "Idiot Wind".

In my humble opinion, The Smashing Pumpkins ain't great RnR. It ain't even good RnR.

Oooops, in case you need t know: RnR stands for "rock n roll". Something the Smashing Pumpkins never figured out. Oh...the pain, the angst, the anger, the despair!!!!

Can you feel it?

Sometimes the person picks the name, sometimes the name picks the person.

OMG!!  A real battle betwixt y'all....oddly enough I think BD wrote a song about this type of thing.....

For those scoring at home, Idiot Wind 2 ScottishWillie 2 - who will break the tie (where's H8trhater when you NEED him!!?)

LONG LIVE RP!!  Oh....I rate this a 5, which means it's a "good grungeish" song to me.  PEACE!!!

Their cover of "Landslide" is the single worst cover I've heard in the history of popular music.  It's as incredibly awful as Taylor Swift trying to do a duet with Stevie Nicks and sounding like a sea hag.
Ah! For a second there i thought i had switched to Winamp playing stuff off my computer. {#Bananajam}

You seem to be comfortable with formulaic output.

I won, I won,,,,, I pushed PSD from the Cranberries Zombie , and this song came up.

Its like winning the lottery

Well you're definitely in the minority here, looks like a 1000 RP listeners gave this dark gem pretty high marks.. .more 10s than 1-6s combined. Too bad you can't vote more than once huh? PSD is your friend on this one.

That's a good point which a lot of people don't seem to understand.  Sad or "miserable" music lets the listener know that there is at least one other person feeling pain - another person to whom they can relate.  I was often more depressed by a lot of the "happy", Top 40 music of the mid-to-late'70s (Bee Gees, Carpenters, Eagles, etc.) than I was by the Lou Reed or other artists I listened to back then.
Smashing Pumpkins = nope.
Yeah, it was the sound of the era, for sure — STP, Nirvana, Pearl Jam n such. It felt great to crank it, embrace raw grunge, and wail...
If I had a rock band it would sound like The Smashing Pumpkins. That drummer Jimmy Something they kicked out for doing too much heroin was a pretty kick ass drummer!!

Smells like teen spirit, today and love will tear us apart all within the space of 30 minutes.

Alternative (always hated that name) lives on .{#Biggrin}

I bought this album back in the day but inexplicably failed to spot its greatness and it lay in hibernation on my shelf for almost two decades. However thanks to the rejuvenating power of Radio Paradise it has been resuscitated and now features very highly in the Davidson family play list with my teenage sons playing it often enough and loud enough to irritate their mother.

Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches loves this song today...

I got "Siamese Dream" as a throw-in for a Columbia House mail-order CD rip-off binge (yes, yes my name really is Hugh Jazz!) and I was amazed. Beat that disc to death for a while.

Can't say I'm thrilled with what they put out after they got back together.

Perfect fit  for a grey rainy UK summers day, whilst job hunting.

I think Tonight, Tonight would be great for this station
This song takes me back to my mid 20's driving a horrible DC commute with this song cranked up to 11 and me singing just as off-key as Billy. Great stuff!

{#High-five} Hey, it's not often we agree but when it comes to the 'singing' of Mr. Corgan, I'm on your side. Vocalizing by Billy always sounds so painful for him, what with all the grunting and straining. In fact, I'm surprised he hasn't busted his spleen. Despite that, there are a few Smashing Pumpkins songs that I like, but I don't like them for the vocals, I like them for the music. {#Umbrella}

This song is just not my bag.  The wife is a hardcore early SP fan, but I never really got into it.  This is a good enough song, but there are better from the album.  I've never been much of a single kinda guy, I prefer the album cuts that you have to digest instead of the radio ready songs.
That late 90's grunge... I hold firm to "10" and "Nevermind" but this album —early 'Pumpkins' totally did it for me....
