Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs
Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs

I feel like a newborn
And I feel like a newborn

Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
I feel so real

Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Yeah

I don't believe in
I don't believe in
Your sanctity
Your privacy
I don't believe in
I don't believe in
Sanctity
A hypocrisy

Could everyone agree that
No one should be left alone
Could everyone agree that
They should not be left alone, yeah

And I feel like a newborn
And I feel like a newborn
Kicking and screaming

Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Yeah

Hey, Dad, what do you think about your son now?
Ah, hey, Dad, what do you think about your son now?

Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Yeah

I mean, I like U2 as much as anyone, but this is much more than an “homage.”

He started dancing around and taking off his clothes acting like an idiot. One of the band members started taking pictures so he would remember what he'd done in the morning. The part where he says "hey dad, what d'ya think about your son now" refers to the fact that the band mailed the nude photos to the lead singers parents as a joke. The song was just a tribute to a fun spirited memory. (found this out at a Filter concert)"

The guitarist was a regular at a bar that worked at, super nice guy, and told this very story to me. Said it was quite an event as one could imagine. Lucky for Ritchie it all happened pre-Sept. 11.

The lyrics listed here have the word "wanna," which it what it sounds like he's singing.  But other lyrics posted online say the line is simply "Could you take my picture" without the word "wanna," which makes a lot more sense.  I think that the latter is correct, without the "wanna" and it just sounds like that word is there because he drags out the word "you" so that it sounds like "you-wa."
Brings back memories of summer 2006, hearing this on XM Radio in the middle of the night, then stepping outside for some fresh air and seeing those redeye flights high up overhead traveling from LAX to ATL/MIA.
Nice flashback - forgot how much I liked this tune. Thanks for dusting it off RP!
Love the album. Good memories. Thanks RP!
good to record these moments

Eh? I think we might be listening to two completely different songs?

1. I like it (which doesn't count, that's subjective, but just so we establish that).
2. War of the Worlds? Parody? What in the alien heck, over?
Needs moar lyrics.  Damn!

Such a great tune!  Lots of memories.
My iPod randomly played this back to back with Leonard Cohen's "Open". Very similar tunes that went well together.
Wow, this is where RP surprises me every day, I'd never have thought they would dare to play a song from this highly brutal album (which I love). Great memories of my stay in Boston in 1998 with WAAF.

Not my favorite song, but certainly among my favorite RP commenters —
I admire the enthusiasm she showed for what she found enjoyable, and the way she expressed it without denigrating anyone else.

Now there's a tune I can endorse.
10.

Check the forum topic about her passing away.  In includes a note from her brother, and a link to an obit.  Subdural hematoma.  Very sad.
They did a great live version on the Anthony Cumia Show a couple weeks ago:

Crappy, annoying, repetitive.
Almost tolerable until he started yelling. Worse than Rod Stewart.

I think she passed away in early 2012.  A stroke I believe.

Whatever you're on, I don't want it as it plainly causes paranoia. The lyrics are below (minus chorus to save space), and I'm fecked if I can see any "promotion of censorship", let alone "in the worst way":

Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs
Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs I feel like newborn
And I feel like a newborn
Awake on my airplane

I don't believe in sanctity or hypocrisy

GREAT tune - have not heard this in years - forgot all about it!
I was a sophomore in high school when this song came out.

Love the gentle lyrics and the easy rhythm of the guitar during the verse.

And that changes the meaning how?

Their own remix (Hybrid Mix) of this very song is a great great tune. You should know it.

I just love this song. I have it on a CD in my Sidekick, and whenever it plays, I have to listen to it over and over. I never seem to get bored with it. Maybe I'm simple. Maybe I'm lame. But I know what I love, and I love this song.

Have you seen this boy??  (Robert Patrick is the brother to Filter's singer)

I like this song, I just realized this is by same band who performed the creepy and great "Hey man, nice shot"  song.  Wow, what a difference between this song and that one.

I had a new level of respect for this band after they released this song.  This is expertly crafted and melodic, from a band that you would not have expected it from.
Having a tough day, and this raised my spirits a little. Thanks.
