It makes me feel like I'm seeing an act in a lounge and thinking that the singer is good, but that she's never going to "make it".
Spot on Ginger.
Just doesn't stack up against Diana Krall and definately not a good lead into Leon Redbone.

Sounds like a Lyle Lovett song.
No, Lyle would have better orchestration and a better delievery. I first thought it was Mary Chapin Carpenter, gald to see it wasnt. Not a fan of this one.

Same run again today. Still pretty marginal. This one at least has a little humor in it.
September. Same run AGAIN!!
pretentious and silly sounding, especially after Diana Krall...

dude, with an attitude like that, she'd drive your misogynistic arse right off a cliff! Grow up for a change.

That's illegal in most states. Just frowned upon in West Virginia and parts of Arkansas, however. :)
Sounds like a Lyle Lovett song.

March 22, 2005. Exact same run. Though I don't think I enjoyed it quite as much as you did... :-k

I don't think she's talking about automobile operation.

...pretty much the same songs again, and I really enjoyed them...again!

Sounds very much like the work of that ugly guy (talented though) who married Julia Roberts a while back.... didn't work out though... hmmm.........

The beginning sounds like some real cheap New Orleans funeral.
This is NOT creative...

Doesn't ring true somehow. A little too slick and clean. It makes me feel like I'm seeing an act in a lounge and thinking that the singer is good, but that she's never going to "make it".
Good point

Another artist I'm not familiar with, that I'll be checking out...thanks to RP!
This whole album (Drive) is sooo good.
My sentiments exactly.

I've never heard of this woman before. Apparently this song is from her one and only album. Oh, I like the song
Chris has released at least 2 albums, that I know of on her own and one with her operatic trained sister and grammy award winner Scott Nygaard. Chris is one of the lead singers in Mumbo Gumbo, a very fun, eclectic band. They have released what seems like a dozen albums. Check some of those out. And talk about slinky! She can melt anything with her torch songs.
Slinky...
Sounds like a "45" played at "33 and 1/3". I'm dating myself, aren't I?
There's a lovely sense of relationship and sass in this song.
