I Dreamed I Saw Professor Longhair
Way Up In the Clouds
Smiling Down On the Carnival
Smile So Tender and Proud

Saying "Keep On Playing Children
Keep On Playing Children
Keep On Playing Children
It's a Long Hard Journey Home
It's a Long Hard Journey Home"

I Dreamed I Saw Professor Longhair
In The Heavens High Above
Smiling Down On the Festival
Smile So Full Of Love

Saying "Keep On Playing Children
Keep On Playing Children
Keep On Playing Children
It's a Long Hard Journey Home
It's a Long Hard Journey Home"

I Woke Up From My Dream
With a Cry and a Start
Though Mr. Byrd Has Flown Away
He's Always Singing In My Heart

Saying "Keep On Playing Children
Keep On Playing Children
Keep On Playing Children
It's a Long Hard Journey Home
It's a Long Hard Journey Home"

I dreamed I saw Professor Longhair
Way up in the clouds
Smiling down on this old earth
A smile so tender and proud

Saying "Keep On Playing Children
Keep On Playing Children
Keep On Playing Children
It's a Long Hard Journey Home
It's a Long Hard Journey Home"

one of the genre's best live bands. I always caught their show when I went to the NO Jazzfest. When they started getting their groove about the 3rd song, the fans were in for an awesome ride.

Exactly!
So great to hear a classic (but not widely known) New Orleans band!  Laissez les bon temps rouler!!

That's Phil Alvin, Dave's brother, carrying a part of the vocals.  Dave is quick to admit which of the Alvin brothers sings best.

also Dave Malone on the guitar brother of Tommy Malone of the Subdudes

I've never heard this song. Wow, love it, great stuff!

All the great N.O. places for music are small. Tipitina's, The Maple Leaf, Jimmy's, The Rock and Bowl, etc.
Music in N.O. is much like food in the same area, The average Gas Station has better food than 4 star restaurants in the rest of the world.
As someone mentioned on another N.O. band comment string. every weekend you will hear amazing bands playing "clubs" the size of a closet.
I hated the place, but the food and music make up for much

What's NO? You from Norway? (and nope, don't like that song at all.... )

I'm ashamed to say I never heard of this great band. A new adventure for me! Checked out their website and will now explore fish head music much further.

Wow, they even got Chef to sing backup. Very Little Feat and Dr. John-ish. I like.
I'm catching a few good Professor Longhair references, both in the lyrics and in the piano style...

Good stuff. The singer and the song sounds like the Subdudes.
Good catch. There's a Malone brother in each band. Their influences are definitely similar.

Lowell George has risen! The rock and roll doctor lives! Halleluja!

I thought this was some new Little Feat at first. Sounds pretty good, got a Dixie Chicken kinda feel. A 7.
Exactly what I thought!
I am smilin' down on these Louisiana tunes. more more. more.

The Radiators are from New Orleans, aren't they? Good band.
