In this whole world that we got today
who knows how it goes
you may rise but you may fall
that's the way it rose
And him that gets may be him that gives
What you got will help
they say a rich man/ may lose his soul
by saving all that wealth

but it's hell—it's hell on the poor boy
It's hell –it's hell on the poor boy
It's hell –It's hell on the poor boy

It's hell on the poor boy
in a world that don't care
he keeps a wheel a rolling
but he don't get nowhere you'll find him in some bread line
or standin at that bar
that's just some way of killing time
all around the world
but it's hell—it's hell on the poor boy
It's hell –it's hell on the poor boy
It's hell –It's hell on the poor boy

You know he built this city
Every city on this earth
every dam /every bridge every church
and masons just his worth
he put that wall down in china
it was a mountain they was blocked
and some poor boy (got fooled ???????)

but it's hell—it's hell on the poor boy
It's hell –it's hell on the poor boy
It's hell –It's hell on the poor boy

Wow. These guys sure know how to stretch out a coda...

And that's a good thing. When a band locks into a groove like this one, a part of you doesn't want it to end. And then there's that part that says, "Okay, time to move on..."
Very nice number! Never heared before! Cool!
I know this guy! He was one of the Knoxville regulars back when I used to play and live there. Lost track when I moved away.
Pretty cool groove, somewhat unusual instrumentation.
I like....
You've got great taste Ms. paisleydancer!

Cool bluesy little number, yes indeed
I really like this
sounds like sonny landreth
Reminds of me Chris Rea - Road to Hell album.

Wow!  Hope not!  Slow cookin' blues done with just the right spice.  Really disappointed that someone with the last name of Cotton doesn't appreciate the blues.
Nice combination of songs... Like the flow... Thanks RP
I've been poor, and I've been rich, and I've been poor again. Rich is better.
Great to hear this song again again. Thanks RP. This was a gem of an album for me and all my Nashville buddies back in the late '90's. He wasn't too far away in Knoxville back then, so we got to see this live a few times. Great times, great band.
Thanks RP!
...oo yaa
.... wow..... does it ever end?.......
Kenny Vaughan on lead? Whoever—pretty durn good.
Sweet, salty and sexy. Yum. Yum. Yum.

OK, I'll say it.  Kevin "Mr. Six" Bacon.

His voice to me sounds like what Bob Dylans voice was probably like when he was about 12 {#Mrgreen}

I'd have to hear a heck of a lot more of him—and be a lot more impressed—to put R.B. on the same level as Knopfler. Mark: Don't worry. Situation isn't dire.

Yes. It's straight.

DON'T SAY THE NAME!

This is an awesome song on an awesome album!!! And RB is one of the most talented artists out there today. His music, his poetry and just his stage presence makes for a great show for anyone fortunate to see him.
What a find.  This is more then 10 years old.  Love it.
Wow. These guys sure know how to stretch out a coda...

Based on the cover photo, it looks like there is only about three degrees of separation between rb and you-know-who.

Does anybody have this album? Is this song indicative of the rest of the music on the album?

Cool. I like RB. He's a bit derranged but that makes him more fun to talk to.
Deranged? Ah, let's just say Brother Morris is a mite bit eccentric. Together with Jeffrey Steele he has that certain poetical combination which works for me.

jeezo will this never end?
Yeah, he sure could use a lyricist. It's hell listening to repetition

Mark Knopfler, you've been warned. Good stuff.
Commenting on your profile Roverfish--I wonder if the Native Americans of the Tucson area said the same thing when the white man showed up!
