Down here the river, meets the sea
And in the sticky heat I feel ya' open up to me
Love comes out of nowhere baby, just like a hurricane
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain

Lying here, underneath the stars right next to you
And I'm wondering who you are and, how do you do? How do you do, baby?
The clouds roll in across the moon, and the wind howls out your name
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain

We never going to make that bridge tonight baby
Across lake Ponchartrain
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain

So batten down the hatch baby, and leave your heart up your sleeve
It looks like we're in for stormy weather, that ain't no cause for us to leave
Just lay here, in my arms, let it wash away the pain
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain

Some singers should never die. I've seen BG several time, felt his electric personality, voice, musicianship, and watched his antics. Long live this man and I know that many of us thank him for what he has given American music.
I detect Mavis Staples singing the backup vocals with Bonnie.
Not as good as John Hiatt's original version, but, still pretty sweet!
The John Hiatt original rated 8 for me. This is a 10.
Men’s denim coverall’s are as rare as hen’d teeth these days, it seems to me.
I see that I rated this an 8 but I don't recall. Just going to up it to a 10 and get it over with.
Never under appreciate a man in overalls playing a guitar (e.g., Lowell George).

In a bar on Maui, 1995, I saw this stunning red head with a shock of white hair down the front and I thought to myself, "couldn't be!"

She was sitting with a tow-headed man wearing glasses and besides my friend and the bartender, we were the only people in the joint on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon (every day is beautiful on Maui).

Finally I got up the courage to approach her. Sure enough it was Ms. Raitt herself. Ignoring her date, we proceeded to talk about music, Maui, and politics among other things. She talked like a mix between a still wide-eyed teenager and a wise old lady. Not like anyone I had ever met. After 20 minutes or so I left the couple and returned to my friend at the bar.

My friend asked, "who was that?" But before I could answer the bartender interrupted, "why that's Walter Becker - from Steely Dan."

True story.

Becker had a recording studio in Maui at the time so perhaps not as unbelievable as you may have imagined.
He almost sounds like Tom Jones.

Slide, lead, vocal harmonies.
Getting chicken skin.

"Love comes out of nowhere baby, just like a hurricane..."
My favorite version of this song. Buddy is the *guy*!
Batten down the hatches, hunker down, dodge a bullet.

Great version of a great song. One of Hiatt's best.

I thought you were going to tell me it was her birthday, and she was drinking salty Margaritas. And the "date" was Fernando.

I would have believed you. Really!

Me: Oh my, look! There's Zebars outside the window!
Michael J: Relax, there's five more........

Saw Bonnie interviews several times lately, she feels so blessed to be friends and work with these masters, complete reverence.  Sweet woman and said her personal life is just great but wouldn't say anything else on that count.  She sure went thru years of 3 deaths in her family. Bless her

John Hiatt is the master; but Buddy and Bonnie did a fine cover to honor him.

Perhaps, but I doubt Buddy Guy plays pool in a tiny swimsuit, apparently for Tom to  better display his virtuosity.

I've seen Buddy Guy three different times over the years and each time it has been a fantastic show with unique moments during each of them that were probably never repeated.  Live Blues music with Buddy Guy is just the best!
Buddy Guy with Bonnie Raitt is a hard combo to beat. So very nice.
ohmy god you gotta YouTube Buddy Guy doing "Damn right I got the Blues" at the Guiter Center, the MAN IS EXCELLANT!!!

Personally, I like the Aaron Neville version
John Hiatt's version, well it's his song and I think he puts the most feeling into the song
just my humble thoughts
I love this Buddy Guy but I would much sooner be hearing Baby Please Don't Leave Me and in fact thanks to the magic of computers I am.
Here in the cubicle zoo, sometimes the music is background to whatever you're doing. Just now I heard an unmistakable slide signature, "That's Bonnie Raitt! But who's that singing?"
I like this version better than the original. Which is unfortunately the case for many John Hiatt tunes.

Wow. Fittin' a mood for me tonight. Nice...{#Umbrella}
Met Buddy at his 'Legends' bar in Chi-Town.  Had a nice mid-afternoon conversation with him, sitting at the bar.  Saw him live quite a few times, most recently at The Commodore in Vancouver.  A gentle, soft spoken man with huge freaking hands.

His record "Damn Right I Got The Blues" (1990) is seminal Chicago blues.

Classic blues tune. Following immediately after Tom Petty's "Let Yourself Go" gives a great opportunity for side-by-side comparison. I'm as big a Petty fan as the next guy, but these songs back-to-back is like being in a small club on Chicago's south side at 2 in the morning after a cold drink or two, versus sitting in a cube listening to Lite FM. Hmm.

sounds like you should do something about that!  Especially before BG passes on

This song was written, like so many others that have been famously covered over the years, by the GREAT John Hiatt.

Well, I like Buddy Guy and Bonnie Raitt's version, too, but I agree - John Hiatt gave it a lot more gritty soul.

One of the best things I have heard on RP in a while.....

Buddy Guy In The Crowd by ~LikeBlackCoffee

Buddy Guy live at Estival Jazz
Lugano (CH), 5th july 2008

This is a shot I'm really proud of, he has such an intense expression! It was a really amazing moment: Buddy suddendly came down from the stage without stopping playing and did a walk in the middle crowd: really an amazing moment (indeed, I can't get how I managed to take some clear pictures, my hands were shaking heavily... ;) )

You know, I ran into a word in common usage in Internet chat rooms a few years ago, and I wondered  at its pertinence.

Namely, how would one discern this word's relevant insertion point (as it were) into polite conversation. The word I am describing is "ass hat". I have had my epiphany. {#Wave}
He played this one at Riverfest in Little Rock last year.  It'd been tryin' to rain all night, and strangely after he finished that song it stopped misting.
Sweet. sent chills up my spine
Very nice!   8+

Great song, and one of the best covers.
good version of one of best songs ever written.
We need more Buddy on RP.
See Festival Express (<—click link) and I guarantee you'll become a fan if you aren't already!

Went to a business convention about 10 years ago in Chicago.Took a cab by myself downtown to listen to some blues.Went to Buddy Guy's Legends club and sat at the bar.A decent band was on stage but me and a girl next to me were staring straight ahead deep in conversation when she said..."don't look now,but Buddy is sitting next to you".I turned to my right and said hello to a legend. He was drinking Heineken(on the rocks)and spent the next 10 minutes talking to me about his tour, his daughter(going to college)and the current status of the blues in the U.S.He was the most humble, decent big time musician I've ever met(I've met a few). Thanks Buddy .BTW...he laughed out loud when I told him I was a harp player.

Great Tune!
A friend of mine dragged me to a venerable club in Phoenix, AZ to see him in 2002. This Guy has an incomparable stage presence even in his 60's. Put a lyre in his hands and send him back to the dark ages and we'd still know his name.
This is one of very few John Hiatt covers that I can enjoy as much as the original.
Let me feel the rain ~ so soulful and we in the southeast need it badly.

DAYUM, I can recognize Bonnie's great slide anywhere! (Even when I'm not paying too much attention. Damn work. Can't have anything nice.) Great CD!!
If you ever get the chance to see Buddy Guy at his nightclub in Chicago..... DO IT!
Buddy Guy rocks Chicago! Woot!
Always liked this song, no matter who sings it. This is a good one too.
All-Man Brothers having a Stormy Monday with the legendary Buddy Guy Feeling Like Rain is almost a perfect combo to get my work day pumping. Just don't follow up with the Weather Girls talking about Raining Men, please.

wonderful....just freaking wonderful..
AND it's a song written by none other than JOHN HIATT!! Is that not way cool?

Holy crap man, Buddy Guy's a living legend. He's the man who inspired Hendrix.
I just think it's so cute when he says "button down the hatch."

Blues are a state of mind, not a state of yer acidwash. DUH
There are blues guitarists with better chops, but he is the entire package. He's a great blues vocalist, and a decent player. And paired with Bonnie Raitt, well, it makes it almost perfect.
Love the original (by John Hiatt), but this is awfully well done.

Saw Buddy Guy live as well. Incredible live. He opened for BB King. Oh, and it was at Red Rocks in CO (oh yeah!) Ahhhhh, good concert.
Off course i mend (Stevie Ray) Vaughan, not Vaughn, though maybe there\'s a great guitarplayer with that name.
