Out here it's 95 degrees in the shade
There's nothing left, but ashes of the plans we made
I'll be the last one standing, I'm not afraid
Of trippin' over myself, worrying 'bout
the things they said

It feels just like being alone
I wish I was at home with you
You're the only thing that's real

All the books I've read just leave me cold
Same lies, same confessions, same stories being told
It's amazing how cheaply everyone's bought and sold
How easy we break, how easily we fold

And you know
It feels just like being alone
I wish I was at home with you
You're the only thing that's real
I can do anything
Act like a fool or I can sing about you
You're the only thing that's real

It's so easy to stumble, so easy to lose your way
It won't take much to forget what you're trying to say

Katy Perry side project?

More likely Patrice is old enough to be Katy Perry's mother.
haven't heard this one in years... :)
Katy Perry side project?
You are ahead by a century ...

Used to see these guys all the time back in the early '90s in dive bars in Texas (when they were "Little Sister" even). Always a great show and it was cool to see Patrice on Rockstar. She rocked the hell outta "My Iron Lung" on there. Still plays around Houston a good amount, great show, check her out if you get the chance.

I Actually have "Free Love and Nickle Beer" CD I picked up at some show back then in Deep Ellum
Sheryl Crow does it better.
This song is growing on me!!{#Angel}

My thought exactly. A SC wannabee

Since Bill doesn't like Sheryl Crow, I'm glad he plays artists who sound exactly like Sheryl Crow.

Sister Seven's lead singer, Patrice Pike, was on Rockstar Supernova. She was the one with actual talent, and albums and record deals to back it up. She said the other contestants asked her a lot about the business end of things, since she's been there. She's doing a kind of folkier sound right now, but she's got the chops to do whatever she feels like. c.
That show was my guilty pleasure!  Really like this song, first I've heard it.

no tah.
Reminds me a bit of the Tragically Hip, but less rock-like and more twangy.

Wow! I can't believe I'm hearing Sister Seven here!
Good group, good song, good CD. Above average. I own it, love all of it, don't need to compare it to stuff from the 60s and 70s.
Very generic.

where's the zepplin? i don't hear it. no inspired guitar, vocals..or overall soul coughing....'scuse the reference.
Guitar riff in general. Guitar riff in the last 2 bars - very "Houses of the Holy". It's there. Some Jimmy influence.
I like it too. Don't see any Zeppelin in here. Maybe it's Sheryl Crow meets, well, Sheryl Crow. A cool tune, nevertheless.
Yahoo!!! Love this song!!!

i heard patrice pike play in houston recently at the mucky duck. she had a great show. she played accoustic with a lead electric guitarist from cali. i cant remember his name now. her bluesy stuff was by far her best.

I conclude from the comments that this tune is played on Radio Paradise two or three times per year. You can handle that.

Yeah those dum dums voted her off. Where is the band Supernova now? (SFX huge empty sound of nothingness)
nice...

Brings back great summer memories of Austin - swimmimg in icy cold Barton Springs with all the tatooed people while KGSR plays on someone's radio... thanks!
I like this song, but I believe there are stronger tracks on the album, which is really excellent.
Hm. Nice. I like it. It's a 8 in my eyes. I shure have to check this band out.
Pleasant with originality & some unusual melodic twists. Certainly worth a 7.

I like this song but to say it "rocks better" than Sheryl Crow is ludicrous since this sounds like it could be off of one of her CDs.
Amen to that. Just think, all these years I thought it was her. Note to self: check out this "Seven Sister" thing.

Oh, this isn't Lance Armstrong's girlfriend. But then again, this rocks better than most anything she has done.

Nothing dramatically unique here, but that doesn't prevent it from being a great tune. Liked it.
Glad to hear them on RP! Great album as well. Why I keep supporting. Thanks!
this one's a winner.

You've got my vote on that one. Quite likeable.

Love the skewed guitar chords and melody. Time to buy a new album.
Intersting hook. Seems like a good mix. Need to hear it again...
Well as someone said, sounds a bit like Cheryl, but I think it\'s a step above. Got a good, well... it\'s got a lota good! I like it! :)
So good to hear Sister Seven.. Thanks RP.
