A beautiful story, told by music without words, experienced by a girl child and a snow goose. It is about the terror and hope during WWII endured by good peaceful beings whilst the Nazi's raged.

The quality mastery of instruments by Camel is pure wonderful creativity.
Far better than any other resting tonic -- play the whole album anytime. Especially if you struggle to fall asleep and / or are are distracted by stress ;)

There isn't any connection between the band Camel and the Camel cigarette brand. The cigarette pack is immitated in the UK release of the Mirage album, and the camel image associated with Camel Productions looks very much like the cigarette logo, but hey, it's an side-view image of a Camel... what else would you expect?!
How can they get away with rippng off the logo? There was a thrift store in my town call Sacks Thrift Avenue and the real store from NY came in and sued and made the little bitty thrift store change its name - they soon went ouf business.

I personally just can't get into this. I've never really liked the sound of the flute as a lead instrument (as opposed to being blended into an orchestra). It might be a generational thing though...most of the comments are saying "Great to hear this after (25-27) years! That would put me at somewhere between -6 months and -2 1/2 years old.
Does anyone experiment a very low quality on treble on this song. Cymbals sounds like a water fall ?
Haven't heard this in years. I have the vinyl somewhere in a bin. Not the greatest song but it aged better than I thought

I can understand people don't like it, and I fully respect it.
Just remember that Camel has had a lot of influence on Film music, and has written some of it as well. Tangerine Dream is another example of a group that has written enourmous amounts of film music and never made the public acceptance for their `normal' records.

I bought this CD at amazon.com because I heard it here at RP & haven't regretted it! I even got the book/story from the library to see what it was all about. RP doesn't just broaden our musical horizons.
I've been listening to Camel in their various forms since 1975 (when I was a high school senior, doing what seniors did back then) and own every album that they have put out. I've seen them twice in concert, and to this day there is no other band that comes close to putting out such a variety of great music that never gets old, no matter how much you listen.
For many Camel songs, you need to be patient and listen to them multiple times before it sinks in that what you are hearing is truly artistic music that was (and is) way ahead of its time.
Thank you Andy Lattimer, for 30 years of fantastic musicianship!

I would suggest giving Camel's other stuff a chance. I totally missed them while I was listening to other music over the last several decades. then I stumbled upon somthing they released about two years ago called "A Nod And A Wink". Very nice and musical. More recently I searched out a bunch of their old music and I felt that for the most part it sounded less dated than I thought it would. There's lots of real good intelligent musicianship in there.

Somewhere I have two Camel vinyl albums.... one has a song that has something about a lake in the title... great little song. More Camel please. Now you are going to make me tear up the garage to find those albums!!!
Man, I\'ve not heard Camel for years. This is great, and please feel free to play more prog rock from this era. This is the stuff that didn\'t get much airplay in the 70s and early 80s, but still has more musical bang for the buck than most present-day material.
