I did not get that. Can you repeat?

Here's a blast from the past: The opening sounds like that old Star Wars "gangsta rap" flash animation/song from years ago.

I don't know why, but this really reminds me of Siouxsie's Cities in Dust:

Yes?

Me too.  I feel like Quagmire...giggity.
If I was stoned and watching some crazy visualization on whatever media player I was using at the time, this song would be awesome.  However, I'm sitting at work and listening to this.  Not so impressive and too long.
Not bad, but definitely not good.

Someone was paying attention to their "Depeche Mode 101 Background Riffs" class... A+!

Release Year is 2000 for this one.
I dig it. Nice Groove. A little long but good beat
Wait, have I switched to my husband's smooth jazz station? Blecccch.

There should be an emoticon for that!

I subconsiously started dancing in my work chair.

very derivitive or am I missing the mystery of it all?

All music derives from other music, hardly surprising after millennia of human music-making. As put-downs go, derivative is, well, pretty derivative and pointless. Hell, even Stockhausen was derivative of something. Unless you can quote music that's truly original, in the sense of not belonging to any preceding musical tradition or form?

Ah you ruined it for me!  I was thinking "Damn, what a nice groove building exercise this is turning out to be" about a minute into the song, opened the comments, and... DAMN, its gonna turn to oatmeal.  Oh well...  let's see if it actually does:

Edit:  Yeah, pretty much.  I can see what the artist was reaching for though.  He was into it as he was climbing the mountain, but as he neared the top he got distracted and decided he didn't really care about making the summit after all,

I have to agree with grey... it could have been a ROCKER but fell short.  I do have to give the guy props for being a one-man-band.  I give it a 7 for effort.
sometimes repetition adds power to the groove.
not this time.

Sorry, don´t get it. {#Arghhh}
s'ok by me. 7
This is the musical equivalent of the candy that gets left in the Halloween bag after the good stuff is eaten.
groooooovy
Kind of a Nile Rogers guitar riff. Land of the good groove

Yes, exactly like that - if Depeche Mode played one chord over and over and over and over ...

Not so much.

the first few seconds I thought is was going to be Depeche Mode

Sounds like my great-nephew practicing his guitar, and he's stuck on getting one chord progression "just right."

Some kind of Western raga

the nay-sayers will think I'm crazy, but this song is too short by about 2 or 3 minutes

I completely agree.  2 or 3 minutes of actual content to go along with the funky grove would improve it considerably.  Otherwise, meh.

This is repetitive.  And also, too, it's also repetitive as well.

Not horrible, but not great.  Good enough tune, 6.
I kind of like it.  Sounds a bit Depeche-Modey
This is Cuba Gooding, Jr., right? Like that is so cool!

Made you look.

It's For Love, Bay-bee! (Austin Powers)

Pop's not why I listen to RP. I suppose a hit of X , a six dollar bottle of water, and a smoky dancefloor would make me feel differently.

Best thing I've heard all morning.
The guitar sounds like David Rhodes. That's why some have said that it sounds like Peter Gabriel. Alvaro
this goes into the download list thanks

I haven't heard this on RP for a few years. I'm glad it's back. Or maybe I've just missed it.

Agreed. Although I'm glued to my Mac.. had me boppin in the chair. Just bought the disc off Amazon for 50 cents. Seems like a steal. Thanks for turning me on RP.

Man - this guy's good(ing... hahahah). Seriously, I bought the album before this and love it. He just keeps the great groove going on this one. Very distinctive style too...... Thanks again to RP for turning me on to him!
Nice groove.

Great stuff, RP --- but...I...gotta...tear...myself...away...to...go...the...can!!! :D ">

i quite agree on the gabriel sound. it's vaguely there.
reminds me of clubbed to death from the matrix soundtrack. i like it a lot.

This IS cool. The opening synth reminded me of Siousxie & the Banshees' "City Lies In Dust" at first...then I discovered it was something NEW.
Love it
So rare to hear an instrumental that just goes for it all the way through. Gotta love that about-to-break-up Fender sound. I'm betting on a Strat, but it could be a Tele...

Awesome. You can actually download this song (and a few others) off the artist's web site...

groovy. I wish there was more funk on here :bananabanger:
I first heard Gooding at a bar that my friend was playing at. The sound guy was playing it, so I asked him what the name of the band was. I was abit drunk, so I had problems remembering the name, but the sound really stuck. I\'m partial to Elysium, but this is a good tune too.

This is so boogie-good!
i can dig this song, seems it would be some great soundtrack music to a cool movie.......

Probably the synth they've used! That's what bothers me most in fact, listening to some of nowaday's music. When someone comes up with something original, they capture it in some software program, after which anybody is using it in the same way and it finally looses all the impact it had. Push a button for this, push a button for that, etc. Still, there (luckily) aren't presets for programming 'soul', 'magic', 'great song' or anything like that(?). Anyway, it's sometimes like the software companies decide what we listen to these days. More than ever that is, 'cause it has always been a matter of what equipment was used, for quite a big part at least.
Awesome groove, though the guitar lick could use a bit more progression..
Disco lives (unfortunately)! :(
good schtuff!
I\'m sure repetition has some intrinsic musical value, but here it\'s just kinda boring.
wow what a groove....
Brad mentined an \"excellent groove.\" I agree. That\'s just what it feels like. A real plesant groove. smoothe, and I love the guitar work. It\'s going on my list.
