There is not a river wide
Not a mountain high
And neither sin nor evil
Could change how i feel inside(2x)

Not all the strength of the ocean
Not all the heat from the sun
(from the sun)
Though others ive tried i just cant deny
For me you are the one (2x)

But true love is priceless
For true love we pay the price
But theres nothing can keep me from lovin you
Not fire no not ice (2x)

Like a hero or a champion
You are the best (your the best)
Like religion or superstition
With you i am blessed (2x)

Now the river may grow wider
The mountains may reach past the sky
And whether or not you feel the same
My love shall never die (2x)

But true love is give and take
True love is sacrifice
But theres nothing can keep me from loving you
Not fire no not ice(3x)

Yusuf Islam?

Holy Cow, Batman. You're right. He's a student.

Yusuf Islam?

So gentle

Ditto. Sounds too much like Cat Stevens, who also bored me to tears.

I agree, he sounds a lot like Cat Stevens, only Cat never bored me; but unfortunately this cut is pretty dull.

All I can imagine is that you hear him in concert and sit in awe at how very sincere and intense he is, and you get all choked up with emotion and then go home and buy the live recording and try listening to it and think, "That was a special moment, but why would I want to torture myself by listening to this over and over again?"
Nope, you see him in concert and fall asleep every time. That's my experience anyway.

I just saw Ben Harper, his really tight band, and Charlie Musselwhite at the sold out Orpheum in Vancouver, and they brought the house down.  At one point Ben said "I'd like to dedicate this next song to our soon-to-be ex-President" and the crowd instantly blew up.  The hootin' 'n hollerin' carried on right through the 5 or 6 song encore - electric.

Only better!
Sounds like Cat Stevens...
Sigh. Past four songs have not been my cup of tea (though I usually like Leo Kottke.. I think it's just context). Nice songs just not ones for me.

There, see? Not one single Cat Stevens joke.
Ughhhhh. Sorry.
I don't care what you boys say, this man's low notes make my stomach turn flips and I do mean in a good way. If you've heard the power of his other stuff, you'll know he is all about passion. It is just barely reigned in here.
Oh man, will I ever be glad when this set of treacle is over!

Well... I'm not EVEN gonna make another comparisson to Cat Stevens
Ok, I'll do it. Man, does this sound like Cat Stevens, or what? Wow!
had this as the first dance at my wedding. Love this song.
Well... I'm not EVEN gonna make another comparisson to Cat Stevens
:) excellent, i\'m all for more ben harper in the mix
Another one who thought it's a nice Cat Stevens song... Hmm, how about playing some more real Cat Stevens here (maybe from Harold And Maude)? ;)
I really like this song, but I always think that it is Martin Sexton...

I guess we should start the pool for when Ben converts to Islam and leaves the biz...
Well, like virtually everybody else, I thought it was a Cat Stevens track. Curious: would somebody ask Harper if that was deliberate or if things just \"turned out\" that way. Hell, he might not even think it sounds like Cat....

N-ice. :D

Lay off the rock and get a clue
That\'s too funny!! I wasn\'t really listening at first (sometimes the whole work thing gets in the way ...) and I thought it was Tracy Chapman!! Same kind of guitar work and the voice is in the right range.
