Living down beneath a cold dark ceiling
Falling snow among the sunken beings
I still dream
I still dream

Down below a place of quiet weather
Blinding sound, gone by certain measure
I still dream
I still dream

I was thinking Paul as well. Not so much Robert Plant.

Quite. The worst parts of Eels and Wilco coming together to produce an unwanted (to these ears, at least) offspring. The singer sounds like he's 'tired and emotional' at 3am after a rough night.

...likewise - this is nice as its own identity, though...

...love the cover...

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking.

Come on, Poughkeepsie is a real town. I thought people just said it because it sounded funny.
Apparently, there used to be some kind of mental hospital in Poughkeepsie. I grew up in NY state and I frequently heard adults use the phrase "spent time in Poughkeepsie" to imply (fairly or not) that someone was a little nutty.

Holy crap! Thanks for posting his name. I knew Anders when I lived in Poughkeepsie. Always knew he'd go on to bigger and better, but wow, Varnaline. Small world. Excellent tune.

Anders Parker in da house! I saw Anders Parker Trio a few times in Raleigh. Good stuff.

He sounds like Ira Kaplan from Yo La Tengo, and maybe a little bit like Neil Young. I like it! Thanks, RP :)

Love the tune and the album. Nice to see others who dig Varnaline.
Saw Varnaline open for Jay Farrar not long ago, and both live and on record, he has a tendency to lull you with a few fairly mediocre, dull, tuneless songs in a row...and then utterly floor you with something gorgeous like this. He\'s really starting to find his groove after leaving Space Needle, and I think he\'s going to be a great alt.country voice before long.
Saw this guy perform with the group Centro-matic as his backing band. Pretty good stuff.
