Govinda Jaya Jaya Gopala Jaya Jaya
= All glories to Govinda (the Supreme Lord) All glories to Gopala (the Supreme Lord as a boy tending a herd of cows)

Radha Ramana Hari Govinda Jaya Jaya
= All glories to Radha Ramana (Lord krishna who takes away all material attatchments of devotees)

Nrsingadeva Jaya Nrsingadeva Gaura Gaura Gaura Hari

= All glories to Nrsingadeva (Krishna when he adopts a lion's head and a human's body to protect devotes from demons) and all glories to Gaura Hari (The Golden Supreme - Krishna when he appeared near Bombay in the sixteenth century as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabu)

Gaura Hari Prabhupta Govinda

=The Golden Supreme, The Hare Krishna Movement, The Supreme Lord.

Sanskrit's a fascinating language. One word can often have several different meanings which can make translation tricky. Some of the sages took advantage of these double (or quintuple :-}) meanings to make their scriptures work on several levels simultaneously.

Just to make things even more interesting, many Hindus believe in one universal force which can manifest itself as several different Gods simultaneously. Govinda, Gopola, Nrsingdeva (along with all he protects us from) and Gaura Hari are all different aspects of the same thing.

Of course, Govinda is also within and without each of us. (A nod to George)

Thank you, that is nice

Fantastic segue from Sidi Ifni.   I just love radio paradise.

My old belly dance troupe had a routine to this song. Brings back so many memories.

THANK YOU!
The more I hear this, the more I like it!  Thanx RP! ...Jaya Jaya!
How about a translation of the lyrics!
Walk On Gilded Splinters was on a couple of hours ago earlier today, just musing that maybe Bill might've missed a trick not playing that after this Kula Shaker track...
Just a thought....
Excellent!! I never heard of them before. Thanx RP!
Pretty freakin cool, right down to the peacocks.
Not bad.  Not as good as his other song  Ginger Baker makes a taco...

I was going to ask if anyone knew the translation... thanks for posting. I tried an online translator but it couldn't even offer one word. The lyrics are cool - we are God, God is us. No division.
When was the last time I heard this! It's been years! Many good memories associated with this song.
one of their best album is named Govinda - Transcendence .  I get their albums on bandcamp.
Anyone see Ken Dodd on the album cover?
Sounds like Trump saying China.

Golfing vagina
First album I ever bought, and it still gets played regularly now. Not even close to the best song on the album, but still a solid 8/10 for me.

I HAD this on a cassette tape that I tossed out the car window while holding a loop of the tape. Oh the dumb stuff you do after a breakup! {#Doh}
I forgot about this song. Thanks for the reminder!
Another first for me at RP.
That's a rather interesting song and sequence and series of tracks.  Indian raga hooked into Pearl Jam, after Cracker and before Oasis. Don't try this on that FM dreck, folks. I think I'll see it's on iTunes.

I heard L.A. radio just lost it's main classic rock station to Christian radio. Ouch.

Brilliant east meets west and back again.

Absolute bilge.
This album was an essential part of my adolescent life, great memories of playing it on headphones during art classes!

{#Cool}
EPIC! love the dynamics, Indian instruments, and all the rock drums, guitars!!!

Your daughter got it right!
It's exactly what they sing!

Your daughter is very funny, but also really clever!

I knew a woman who would cry like a jungle bird as she went into orgasm: ''Aiya aiya aiya aiya aiya aiya.''
Thanks for the memory.

I hear Peacocks. Just like here in the 'hood.

Yup.

Amoeba in SF was a-maz-ing. Can't remember exactly where it was (the Haight?) but I remember getting lost for a few hours there.

Love the peacocks in the beginning of this.

Hah. I never expected to hear this song ever again.
Bill, check out Advaita, a group I discovered in India.  Good stuff...
It just reminds me of India
That's very good...
i like this song

it was sweet seeing his mom and his aunt (Hayley and Juliet Mills) on this show  BBC's (on Netflix)
"Wild At Heart" about a British vet and his family that moves to South Africa. It's a sweet show, nice for kids and my dogs love it. Lots to bark at.
Music is fine. Cover art is better yet.

I agree...  this song rocks...  we be dancing...
Isn't this the song at the beginning of "Inside Man"?  Different arrangement, though, more intense.  I check in with the first 10 minutes of that move whenever I can, just to see the photog, and hear this piece.

Oooh, I've got this song on an album by the Radha Krishna Temple, produced by George Harrison. This is a very nice version.

I am definitely liking this.  It just rolls like a fast freight train on a long straight track.
Mmmm - settling into a lovely sunny afternoon groove after a brutal day at work.  This is so inspiring and soothing - might have to over-limit my credit card and get this CD... {#Meditate}
More sacred fun music on RP! Yes...
I really want to buy this song and get it on my iphone but I can't seem to find anything other than the karaoke version.

For the love of Mike, help me.

Indeed. There's a little mom and pop Indian restaurant in St. Petersburg I visit every chance. They have a sat feed of an all Bollywood music video channel, always amazed by the smokin' guitar and bass work coming from the subcontinent.

Cool song, but for some reason I kept having flashbacks to a seinfield episode about a mis-remembered name.
