The deepest repent is coming tonight, I turn off the light
Don't leave yet... repeated
A pale colored boy, and sister are cheated

The needle will bite and sting
When we will arrive, we'll bring...

Peace in this evening, I turned on the light and everyone's grieving
Here is the light Oh let it shine through me
Here is the light Oh let it burn and burn

The needle will bite and sting
When we will arrive, we'll bring...

The needle will bite and sting
When we will arrive, we'll bring
This torturous cycle to burn, burn, burn
When we will arrive, we'll sing

Ours has a nice delivery but sounds a bit angsty. A time for all seasons.

I agree, like Bono's.

When this album came out the Buckley references were abound - and to Gnecco's credit - he dismissed them. So other than a full appreciation and envy of Jeff's talents, I don't think Jimmy 'manufactures' his voice to sound like anybody. It is the voice he was born with - and he shouldn't have to answer to anyone for using it to the fullest of his potential. I've seen Ours live - and can attest - there is no studio gimmick that can atone for a poor live performance. Gnecco's wail shook the rafters of the building.

The references abounded for a reason. This is Buckley Lite.
Muse?
A solid 1 for me...
Really liking this one. . .

I believe your statement could be considered somewhat redundant - depending who you ask.  Good song, this, by the way.

Easy on the shouting there, my friend - there are people here on different timezones!

Radiohead and Muse?

Incredible voice.

Great band.

See them live - there are no studio tricks or enhancements. The cat can practically raise the rafters.

I'll see your dirge and raise you two threnodies. . .

chord progression would seg well with Skynrd Simple Man

Interesting observation, and spot on. "Simple Man" is C-G-Am (or thereabouts)...this sounds like it uses the same progression, or a variation of it.

Shades of The Muse...but why?!

The people on this thread that hear Buckley are exactly right. I am such a HUGE fan of Buckley, anything along the same lines will not come close to matching what he had done.

That being said, I can't believe nobody on this thread mentioned that Jimmy Gnecco used to be Buckley's guitar tech back in the day. After that, the comparisons are inevitable. BUT, to the people that say it's not his fault he was born with the same voice as Buckley... that's a load of crap. First, nobody was born with a voice anywhere NEAR Buckley. Second, the vocal comparisons are due to the similarity in the vocal "theatrics" that they both employ. Buckley was already born with a built in drama in his voice. Gnecco manufactures it to try to sound like Buckley. Again... that's not to say he doesn't have a pretty damn good voice. I enjoy most of the album...

:-k

This song can stay theirs. We don't want it.
I hear Jeff Buckley, too. This guy has a voice!

Jimmy Gnecco was a friend of Jeff Buckley and it is often mistakenly claimed that he worked as Jeff's guitar tech in 1995. Jimmy never worked as his tech. He later shared Jeff's management team.

I Saw the Light followed by Here Is the Light. Cute.

Next song?? LIGHTning Crashes?
nice
wonder if Muse listened to Ours at all...
I really like this band. Yes, they get very melodramatic and pompous sounding, but that can be good when done properly. I think this falls into that category. I can see where others would despise this though.
Powerful intro when cranked up-maintains well throughout-some great crescendos-finale eases you out nicely. Great!
Good stuff.
Cheap

From AMG: "The ensuing album, 2000's Distorted Lullabies, was met with asterisked critical acclaim; the prevailing sentiment seemed to suggest that Gnecco was almost too similar to the late Jeff Buckley (in voice, style, and even appearance) to properly appreciate in his own right." Well, duh! I do like it, however...Buckley rip-off or not.
weird. i don't think he looks like jeff buckley at all. of course, i never met jeff buckley in person (more's the pity...).

No, this is much better, but still only marginal. I would not choose this for any occasion. Sounds so void.

Jeff Buckley Jeff Buckley Jeff Buckley p.s. Jeff Buckley
i really, really like this. still, after 3 yrs. :nodhead:
I would have never recognized the similarity to Jeff Buckley had it not been for Radio Paradise. In fact I had never even heard of Jeff Buckley before RP.
They sound similar to U2.
When did Jeff Buckley trademark falsetto?

right on - couldn't agree more. I'll go one step further - I don't think this band would exist if Jeff Buckley hadn't sadly died. I say this band is a marketing-team's realization that JB's niche had been vacated. They then went ahead and found a prettyboy who could sing, found some session guys and viola! (the above is all speculation) :D :D

Well ok, all great artists, sooner or later get imitated or, lets say, interpretated. Mostly, like Ours, without touching the original. It\'s a form of flattery, I quess.

ROFLMAOWPIP !!! I have no idea why the other guy complained about _this_ song.. I'm finding I like most of OURS that I've heard... :D
Good tune. Very listenable, with high energy. This sounds like what U2 would sound like if they mixed their style with Kansas. Definitely Buckleyish (before the incident on the Mississippi R.) You can definitely hear Steve Lillywhite\'s production influence. That\'s why the early U2 sound, I\'m presuming.
You just played this song yesterday for sucking out loud. Rotate, dammit! :p
Jeff Buckley would be flattered. Here\'s to hoping this guy doesn\'t get liquored up and decide to go swimming.
excellent band and an excellent CD. enjoy.
I am starting to get sick of this band.
I had to scroll up to look at the song title/artist before I realized that it wasn\'t Bono finally getting his act together.
