This is the first time I've heard this.
Definitely dated but great production.
I could do without the hand claps but... still sounds great!

The truth is, this band within a band was tight as it gets, and had the World Groove rhythms way before anyone else at the time... Jerry Harrison's solo stuff showed it, too. They made grooves with such raw, hip funkiness it still blows my mind, and they were so FUN, too!

This song epitomizes the 2 rating although I'm a little bit torn.  The description of 2 is "marginal," which I take to mean "it almost belongs here."  While that is pretty far from the truth, I have reserved 1 solely for Kate Bush, so 2 it is.

I’ve seen over 2000 concerts and shows and I’ve seen the Talking Heads the only two times they played at Red Rocks and I have seen the Tom Tom Club six times in concert. Absolutely one of the very best live bands you will ever see is the Tom Tom Club! One of those six shows was at CBGBs and that was amazing!

Also saw “The Heads” at the NightClub 930 in DC!

I beleive that talking heads and Tom Tom are dated as ever. Actually the passagge of time will bring them back into more perspective.

Not to be pretentious, but this should be listened to in its historical context. Sure, it sounds a little dated, but at the time it was as cool as it got. (Wow, is that a drum machine?) There was no band mightier in the 80's than the Heads, and Tina was their queen.... and her funky side project was the ultimate thing to be into as a music snob in 81-82, remember? Kind of like the Herbie Hancock tune where he did the first 'record scratching' turntable thingee. That's why Ken Burns put it on the Jazz CD compilation for his documentary. Nothing special now, but at the time.... it made history.
