Blur satisfies an area of my music hunger that no other band really can. They have a tremendously deep and varied catalog, and their latest album is sneakily good. Like other challenging music, latter day Blur often takes a few listens, then it really sinks in deep.

I love Spike Jones. Saw him interviewed once, and he was getting antsy. So he's in his kitchen, right? He picks up a couple of butter knives, the old very round '50s type, and starts "drumming" everything in sight. Cupboard, pots, stovetop, the cat. Turns out he started as a percussionist, and he was showing off. What a musician. And the City Slickers—what a band! Honk! Clank! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeez!

Well, I did see him in "the Bedsitting Room" in the middle of the 6th decade of the last Century. Spike played The Post Office.

There is something like pop parody in their music, kinda like the Dandy Warhols.  I like their album "13" a lot, which has some more serious efforts. It did not seem to be appreciated as much by their fans.

Wrong - the Beatles were a major influence on Kurt - and you can hear it - Nirvana'a melodies are so beautiful - only hiding the pain and anguish of a sad tortured soul - all suicides are "self indulgent" to a degree but don't confuse your use of the term

I very much like Blur and find the breadth of style and the level of musicianship to be such that it is Blur that is better referenced with the Beatles than Oasis. Interesting because it is Oasis that has labored so hard to manufacture music and hype that has Oasis as the latter day heir to the Fab Four. Bang! spot on. Not bad, but the problem with trying to do a Beatles thingie is that you can't win. This type of thing always suffers from the comparision with the real thing - sort of like frozen pizza. It just make me want to crank up the Beatles. Oh, Bill just did exactly that. Dig that pony! I told ya so!

I love blurs stuff. Sadly the last year or so its gone down hill. Since Graham left. But this tracks great :) I cant beleave the Guardian called Blur 13 Too emotional and crap. I was shocked. I thought it was probebly the best album they ever made. And at the time the best thing going. Theres just no pleasing some people :) Nutsy

this whole album is superb. I bought it 6/7 years ago and didn't really like it for a while. But woe does it ever grow on you, it's got such a great mood and feel. great at a party or just to sit and listen to. and there's no comparrison with oasis, blur is far and away superior and nearly completely different genres

I very much like Blur and find the breadth of style and the level of musicianship to be such that it is Blur that is better referenced with the Beatles than Oasis. Interesting because it is Oasis that has labored so hard to manufacture music and hype that has Oasis as the latter day heir to the Fab Four. Bollocks! as far as I am concerned. It is Blur that more naturally has earned that distinction - if such a distinction must be made. Blur, especially from the \"Parklife\" and \"Girls and Boys\" era material, has evoked comparisons with the Kinks as well. By the way, rent or buy Blur\'s video hits DVD if only to see the hilarious \"Coffee and Tea\". Brilliant.
