True you ride the finest horse I have ever seen
Standing sixteen, one or two, with eyes wild and green
And you ride the horse so well, hands light to the touch
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to

Ride on, see you, I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, i could never go with you
No matter how i wanted to

When you ride into the night without a trace behind
Run your claw along my gut, one last time
I turn to face an empty space, where once you used to lie
And look for a spark that lights the dark
Through a teardrop in my eye

Chorus

I don't know when I ever rated this an 8, hearing it in "my favorites" and I don't recognize it at all.
I like it well enough to keep an 8 on it.
Long Live RP and whatever's left of my memory!!
wow I love that steady quiet slide at the end
"Run your claw along my gut"  ??

What was occupying the space next to him that is now empty?  The horse?  Wait, they don't have claws ....
CM the master of the ballad!
Like Bill has always said, the  interesting different comments is what makes the world go round lol always interesting if not maddening lol {#Rolleyes}
Bill you just took me back 25 years ago to Paddy Burkes in Boston, Thank You.
Strange. I don't really *like* it... but I'm intrigued. Even though I don't like it, I feel this music is somehow legitimate. I have a hard time putting this into words, can you tell?
Geez...  The majority of the comments below cannot possibly be speaking to the song that is currently playing, can they?  Just doesn't seem so awful to me, but what do I know...
This tune will do.
Diversity is what RP is all about. Keep it up Bill and Rebecca!

I am sorry but I have never posted a low rating until now.  I take the view that if you don't like something then that is probably a subjective opinion and others may think differently.

However in this case the singing is amateur folk style and affected, the melody is average and the lyrics are not up to much.

Christy Moore has a big reputation in Ireland and that may have been justified at one time but this effort is not good on any level.

Sorry Christy, but as a fellow inhabitant of the island of Ireland, this song is not one of your best, in my opinion of course.

This isn't Ride On but what is it?
Oh Please - make it stowp!!!!
This isn't Christy Moore. Wrong track.
Delightfully weird!

Oh, this is absolutely awful pretentious drivel.  Please stop.
Yes! I recommended some Christy years ago and it's great to hear it on RP. Thanks Bill! He has got loads of great material.
Christy Moore is wonderful.  Please play more!
Wasn't sure if Celtic folk or heavy metal intro.
Thanks! I got turned onto this Irish singer when I was living in Shizuoka 1988-'90... That cassette was lost and I hadn't heard him since!
Wow. I never expected to hear this here, or anywhere. It's a rather troubling and/or troubled song, but one that has always resonated well with me. Where does one ever hear Christy Moore, anyway?
How about playing 'The Voyage' Bill. A glorious moving song.
Finally heard it...on PSD.
That's right, ride it out of the stable and onto the air! Pretty please?
Last Played: Never Come on RP....get this one out of its box and put it on the turntable !
