Everybody in my church loves this song tremendously...
The B-52's have a new album coming out next year! I can't wait
I always thought that the guy in the B-52s was like the luckiest guy in music - I mean he's got two babes who sing like angels and he interjects with stuff like "love shack baby", and "rock lobster". Not even singing.
More produced B52's - yes. But still farking great B52's - heck yes! Oh come on now..... the whole shack shimmy!
Always liked the guitar work on this.. kinda surf-ish.
I don't hate this quite as much as I used to . . .
Jesus it hurts.

For real camp, check their(B-52's) song "Butterbean" from the album "Whammy." I'd upload it but I would bet the ranch it would go to "Probably Not" or "Sorry" land.
You know, I keep trying to go down to Athens GA, but while driving in my car I never get very far before I'm overcome with people SHOUTIN' OUT and have to turn back. Geezum, I can't believe I still remember those lyrics. If I could soak up anything back then, why the hell couldn't I learn a foreign language worth a damn? I'll preemptively request it, if that'd help. While you're there, upload "legal tender", too. Whammy! is one of those albums I had on tape but never made the cut when converting to CDs. Maybe I'll find it for $5 used somewhere. As for "love shack", I dunno, I think it's relatively harmless. I'm a bit sad that it's become an emblem for all things B-52's to many people, though. I also feel like I've heard it enough for one lifetime, but that doesn't make me angry about it. A solid 5.
I love it! Always have - HURRAY!

Ow, ow, ow! I'm not against cheezy pop songs at all. I like cheezy pop songs! Some of my best friends are cheezy pop songs! But this song makes my teeth hurt. I had to take off my headphones to be able to write this rant. The song's only three or four agonizing minutes long, praise jesus. And it's a good excuse to get lunch. :-& Hopefully another song will be on when I get back, so I'll be able to eat it...
totally agree! If I never ever heard this song ever again, there'd still be plenty of better, fun, wonderful cheezy pop songs to rock out to.
" You're WHAT!!!?" A prerequisite party tune. A 9.
The official theme of votergasm.org.
NO NO NO! WHY, RP WHY? why not something from the first album, not the song that ruined the B-52s! So many good songs! Nooooooooooo! Everytime I hear this, I envison lame weddings, or worse, fat middle aged women dancing (who can't) in business suits. this blows!
So many other great B-52 songs. A shame to play one of the very few that got radio airplay. Play some other B-52s.
Always really liked this.
never really liked this.

Is this not the best drunken dancing song EVER? Come on, I know every single one of you has danced/stumbled/groped someone to this song at some time and LOVED IT! Give it its due in the appropriate genre: #1 Funky, Fun, Dance Song!
Rock lobster is the best drunken dance song.
Cosmic Thing was our favorite disk to play when we partied at our place circa 1991/92. This, however, was never among our favorites on the album.

I do not even want to read what others write about this song. It's gonna be it's too pop and not serious enough etc... However.......wanna party? You can't go wrong with this one. Brilliant groove. "Bang Bang On The Door, Baby! :) //CD
For some strange reason, this song is played at every Bar Mitzvah across America since about 1989. Maybe if I hadn't been to so many Bar Mitzvah's I wouldn't be so sick of this song. It's got catchy stuff in it, but it'd be a machiah if I never had to hear it again.

The negative comments about this song - and the negative comments about a lot of other 'pop'-ish songs on RP are so typical of people who take everthing about music way too damned seriously. It's typical of wannabees and people who sit in sport's statdiums and shout at the teams about what they should have done - AS IF those fat fucks in the stands could even walk across the field - let alone get up to bat. I've never understood the high and mighty approach to music - either music appeals to something in you or it doesn't. That's it - STOP analyzing it and stop criticizing Bill - change the channel. This is "art" and not science. Get OVER yourselves.

Come on folks... what's a little bit of sappy fun gonna hurt in RP land. I wonder if you would be so negative agains the B-52's non-comercial hits? If you don't like them, fine, but if it's just because this one song was popular and overplayed... Well, I won't complain 'til it's overplayed here as well. Repeat after me again: popular does not automatically mean bad...
On the contrary! Probably most "cult artists" would die for having a big hit, though they won't admit (at first) I know some and they were surprised about how exiting it was to have a hit single climbing up the charts, which they followed from then on.

Still funky and as fun as ever. \:D/

I bought this CD EONS ago....and it probably hasn't seen the light of day since I graduated from high school. This is one of those songs that makes me think about old friends and slumber parties. Nostalgia makes me smile....and then I change the station.
Kitschy? You betcha! There's room for this along with Radiohead, Thievery Corp., Joseph Arthur, and even (gasp) Eek-a-mouse here at RP! For real camp, check their(B-52's) song "Butterbean" from the album "Whammy." I'd upload it but I would bet the ranch it would go to "Probably Not" or "Sorry" land.
why?? why ??? why??
Reading all the negative comments about this song inspires me. It inspires me to say, \"I NEVER EVER GET TIRED OF HEARING LOVE SHACK!!!!!!!!!!!!\" And I don\'t think I ever will.

It\'s somewhat fun.. but that\'s it. It can get REALLY ANNOYING if you hear it too often.
This song sucked when it first came out...it still sucks.

For a long time I found their debut album by far the best they did, but this song especially proofed they where still good for a big surprise.
The song to start a dance party with!
