Always a fave...from the first radio-code beeps, then that announcer stating that Pluto was not discovered until 1930 -- meanwhile all is overlaid and dotted throughout by pilots' radio chatter (such as later used by Dave & Co. in Learning To Fly), to the trippy-weird Coleridge-style lyrics -- and to the whacked-out visionary guitar jamming and sound-effects that only Syd seemed able to get out of those poor strings -- way ahead of its time, even though Hendrix would be headed still further soon after... MORE EARLY FLOYD, Bill, onegaishimasu! Lucifer Sam, Matilda Mother, The Scarecrow, Pow R. Toc. H, or The Bike would be quite nice! and once in a while maybe something off of Barrett's first solo album (with Canned Heat's drummer! and David G. doing a rocking bass-line on a jam called "Maisie"!) would be tasty! Shall we assume Standard Orbit, Captain? Hardly -- MUCH higher, Mr. Sulu, would be better, if you don't mind!

Not quite. it is the beginning of "Kennzeichen D" or "Brennpunkt" (One was Santanas Waiting). The jingle from "Monitor" is from Alan Parsons Project: Lucifer. I like it, that is why i wrote to these guys and asked about the jingle ;) Anyway, great song by a great band 8)

My alltime fave PF song!!! A French Canadian metal band from the 80\'s called Voivod did an AWESOME yet painful version of this that should be checked out......good ol\' PF w/Syd.....

When this came on I thought, "Gee, this must be Elbow. The follow-on to 'Any Day Now', perhaps?". Can certainly see a major influence on their (Elbow's) sound, especially the singing.

The first song they played in the 1994 tour ... they had a bunch of slides being shown on a round screen at the back of their stage -- being the middle of July and the sun going down \'round 9:30pm made for very poor viewing of the photos ... but the music was always good.
