Hangin' round downtown
By myself
And I had so much time
To sit and think
About myself
And then there she was
Like double cherry pie
Yeah there she was
Like disco superfly
I smell sex and
Candy here
Who's that lounging
In my chair
Who's that casting
Devious stares
In my direction
Mama this surely
Is a dream

Hangin' 'round downtown by myself
And I had too
Much caffeine
And I was thinkin'
'bout myself
And then there she was
In platform double suede
Yeah there she was
Like disco lemonade
I smell sex and
Candy here
Who's that lounging
In my chair
Who's that casting
Devious stares
In my direction
Mama this surely
Is a dream
Mama this surely
Is a dream
Yeah mama this must
Be my dream

I've looked for a picture to go with this.

According to random internet sources, Disco Lemonade is a cocktail made with Vodka, Blue Curacao, and Lemonade.

TMYK⭐
"Someone's been lounging in my chair!" roared Papa Bear in a big, Papa Bear voice.

"Someone's been lounging in my chair!" exclaimed Mama Bear in a medium, Mama Bear voice.

"Someone's been lounging in my chair!" squeaked Baby Bear in a small, Baby Bear voice.  "And they've smashed it to bits!"

Just where my mind wanders when this song plays.  That and wondering what sort of lemonade they served at discos.
I think that this entire album is beautiful. Wish they got more exposure than just this song.
I remember seeing this band play in about 1998 at a concert in Seattle.  Another band that played was Fastball.  Semisonic opened, and Everclear headlined.  I always get a kick out of remembering the lineup of that concert.
Always loved this tune!  Haven't heard it in ages - like disco lemonade {#Roflol}

Guess that means they need to have more tracks to get demolished by commercial airplay in order to 'make it' and have other reasons to hate them.

I own the album and it's tight. "gone crazy", "sherry fraser", "poppies", all solid in my book.

I have this album as well- though I usually skip past this track when playing.  Rates alongside Nada Surf for me which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Cool vibe to this song. A bit interesting that it was played yesterday though.
WOW!  THIS IS NOW 20 YEARS OLD!?!?

I'll be over here with my cane.
In my opinion, one of the worse songs ever. It's as if the band is trying to create an ear-grating, annoying sound. Whiny, whiny, whiny.

Uh oh...I think I just described 90% of the bands from the 1990s!

I really like this actually - totally agree - shocked it's so low given RP listeners level...  {#Ask}

Apparently 2002 and 2003 people don't like it.
This 2016 guy likes it.

Perhaps a one hit wonder, but a good song nevertheless. Surprised the rating is so low.

I agree. Good moody groove.

Got some nice hooks and good memories, so i'm going against the grain and saying I still like hearing this.
A hard 8~ {#Cool}
Godlike,,,,,,,,yup, I said it..... Godlike,,, for all of the experiential memories it evokes.
I know there is no point in arguing about what someone else should think about a song. That's the beauty of music, and makes our lives so much richer. I just wanted to insert a positive comment about this band and this album, and their second one as well. I really like this song. To me it has a unique take on self awareness and so on, expressed in, what is to me, a unique musical way. The album this is taken from has a lot of surprisingly good songs. As does their second album.

Totally agree. Lots of good rock out of the 90s, but not this stuff. Can you write a mediocre song and sing it in a droney, melancholy voice? Bang, you've got a 90s "alternative" hit. Let's have some Collective Soul next.

Well, let's not have some Collective Soul next. Meh.

This tune isn't bad though, 5 or 6 I guess.

Awful. Stupid and way overplayed. Typical of the worst of the 90s.

As one who doesn't listen to MSRadio (unless you consider KFAT mainstream!), I have heard this song only once or twice in my lifetime.

I like the simple production, it's catchy. And hey, anybody who admits they like sex is alright with me. On the whole, it's "Quite Likeable", without a doubt.

Reminds me how good my life was after I forgot this song.

Y'know, guys, maybe there's a REASON why "mainstream radio" doesn't play certain groups: because those groups SUCK HARD. Case in point.

I discovered this tune from mainstream radio, but you are right it seems to have faded from the airwaves, haven't heard it there in almost a decade.

Intellectually and artistically lazy music. Just lazy songwriting, not sure how anyone ever thought that this was worth playing twice.
UGH! I'm really not sure what is more disturbing, the How-to-play-guitar nature of the melody, or the narcissicism of the lyrics.
I wouldn't mind hearing Morphine, myself!! Great band.
Undoubtedly my least favorite song on the radio in the last 10 years.
It\'s a fun song, but it\'s been slaughtered to death on commercial radio.
I\'m done with this song. I liked it when it first came out, but after however many years it\'s been, this still gets played frequently. I\'d rather hear something from Morphine.
One hit wonder band
Just like candy -- tasty and forgetable.
