At the risk of sounding cliché, this has a really good groove to it. I like it. (My slob-disclaimer is:  I'm running a fever, so stuff just comes out uncensored.) I think William Orbit has a weird name, but it's catchy enough to make me not just write him off  He's got some pretty kewl music - I hope I get to hear more of it so I can make an educated decision regarding what to purchase when I make my first million on my book.

Or like the music in Spyro the Dragon games.  There's a reason for that: Stewart Copeland (of the Police) did the music for most of those games, and according to another poster, is one of the main samples here.

I've not heard this in yonks and it's lush -  Reminds me of the Phoenix Festvial with my best friend, at the end of the set william orbit so in the throws of the music, chucked his bass guitar into the audience and it hit my poor friend square on the forehead!  Orbit was horrified and ran into the audience to mop up the blood himself.

Faithless was still teething when this guy was pioneering electronic tunes with a number of albums, probably well over 100 remixes from the looks and his own label. If anything sounds Faithless, it's probably Faithless using tracing paper on Orbits shadow. While Insomnia was a pretty nice track for a month or so, I never heard anything fresh out of Faithless again.

Orbit on the other hand seems to be a much smaller version of Eno... he just touches things and they sound better. I hope he keeps busy!

{#Lol} This is a pretty fun track with stacks of influences and samples. I love the Jean-Michel Jarre sample in the background. Thanks to RP for introducing me to Mr Orbit, who really is very interesting indeed. His website is quite neat, too, with lots of tracks and a nice fish on the front :o). 8 from the Nottingham jury.

Personal Midget/Cain's Ballroom from that film score by Stewart Copeland. Stan Ridgeway and Copeland's "Don't Box Me In" is a pretty cool tune if you are into that genre

I really like it. The vocals sound like a famous rapper, but I can't quite place it. I like the socially conscious aspect of the lyrics, especially with the current mania over rap lyrics. c. edit: Tone Loc, that's it. Ain't exactly 'Funky Col' Medina' though. All those dis'ing rappers for using slang like 'yo' and 'wize' are forgetting musicians and lyricists have been taking, uh, liberties with language forever. 'Bop bop aloo bop sham bam boom' is one example, and no one has YET figured out what or who Steve Miller's 'pompatus of love' is. I'm only defending rap's style, not much of its content. Thankfully Bill doesn't play THAT sort of rap. This is kind of cool though. c.

Agreed. Orbit's best creations are his instrumental arrangements. The vocals just distract the listener from the real music... kazuma wrote:
