After the glow, the scene, the stage
The sad talk becomes slow but there's one thing I'll never forget
Hey, you gotta pay your dues
Before you pay the rent

Over the turnstiles and out in the traffic
There's ways of living, it's the way I'm living, right or wrong
It's all that I can do
And I wouldn't want to let you be

I want a range life
If I could settle down
If I could settle down
Then I would settle down

I want a range life
If I could settle down
If I could settle down
Then I would settle down

Run from the pigs, the fuzz, the cops, the heat
Pass me your gloves, this crime it is never complete
Until you snort it up or shoot it down
You're never going to feel free

Out on my skateboard the night is just humming
And the gum smacks are the pulse I'll follow if my walkman fades
Well, I got absolutely no one
No one but myself to blame

Don't worry, we're in no hurry
School's out, what did you expect?

I want a range life
If I could settle down
If I could settle down
Then I would settle down

I want a range life
If I could settle down
If I could settle down
Then I would settle down

Out on tour with the Smashing Pumpkins
Nature kids, I- they don't have no function
I don't understand what they mean
And I could really give a fuck

Stone Temple Pilots, they're elegant bachelors
They're foxy to me, are they foxy to you?
I will agree they deserve absolutely nothing
Nothing more than me

Dreaming, dream, dream, dream, dream

Would have made a nice INSTRUMENTAL!!!

You'd be surprised how out of tune their instruments can sometimes be... but that's part of the charm. 10 - Godlike for every and anything Pavement has ever done. Greatest band of the 90's by far.
10 - Godlike.

It's a pitty there are only 3 Pavement songs in RP library...

This is bad. . . . . . and by bad, I mean bad.
Is he cracking his voice for 'effect' ? No one is that bad - maybe the joke is on us?
This sucks so bad it is great! No problem on my end. Thanks Bill-
This isn't as good as it could be. =(
teh suck official vibe from Texas at least West Texas
They should get a singer, or a new one who doesn't have to strain on ALL the high notes.

F*#k run-on sentences too!
"If I could learn to sing" You've got to be kidding me with this crap?

I second that. Until then, mute.

Discordantly pleasing!
Yup, it's like grooving to Alfalfa.
This song brings nothing to the table. Yawn.
Always liked this Pavement song... really sets a mood. His voice fits the song- even though it's not "in key"
Discordantly pleasing!
Pretty vile...

What could account for such bad judgement to produce a regrettable song like this? How did it even get recorded? At least Neil Young had fame and a record of past excellence to persuade producers to release his latest poorly executed expression of outrage. Overall, I really believed music was about talent and vision. In all fairness, I suppose we cannot expect Bill to make 100% wonderful selections (but it is 99 44/100th % pure); this is some of that crud that you skim off the top of the boiling pot and throw away.
It's just a silly old song. Chill!

I thought it was Wilco. I dig it.

I was going to say that this song kind of sucks, but your comment hits the mark better.

You can still tell it's Pavement.

uhh, voice lessons. Good music - need new singer.

I am writing largely out of sympathy for the harsh rating, but really it's a good song; the tunes good and I actually like the vocals. Anyway, If music quality was based solely on vocals certainly nobody would have heard of Dylan and Bright Eyes wouldn't be on the scene. I've never heard of this band, but their probably aware that their vocals aren't the best, but oh well, maybe they've got something to say. Much better, I say, than these artists who have nothing to say, but since some label talent scout told them they're pretty and sing well they've decided to clog the airwaves with their lab manufactured bubble gum rock.
My cat holds pitch better than this guy.

5.0? Come on. LISTEN! Then go listen to the rest of "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain." Jesus.
Great song. But I think that there'd be more Pavement's songs in the playlist. The whole Crooked Rain is a hot-shot. And WoweeZowee, maybe not very suitable for a radio station, but it's sort of a masterful tour-de-force. Well, i just think, just opinions and likes...
wow. lots of unexpected hatred for Pavement here. definitely not their typical sound, but this is one of my favorites of their, personally.
I think that this song is clearly underrated
Why is he so off key?!?
I want a Vocal Range...
This song is really getting a bad go of it here. I admit its not the best I\'ve ever heard, but a 4.3 is a little harsh. Reminds me of Wilco in a lot of ways.
I think when he learns how to sing, this band could achieve a remarkable level of mediocrity. Untill then...

Pavement is definitely an acquired taste, but once you acquire it you'll never look back. This isn't one of their best tunes, but it's not bad if you know how to listen to it (follow the song structure and the rhythm of the lyrics more than the singer's tone). -- Brian
Ouch... My ears hurt....
This is the first record I ever bought from Sonic Sounds in Lincoln, UK, after hearing it on Mark Radcliffe\'s radio show on Radio 1... cool. :)
This guy may have a range life, but his range in voice has truly hit the pavement. Did I miss something or was this purposely for pure torture?
If the singer is not actually singing out of tune, he\'s doing a remarkable impression of it. What a miserable song.
Right ON!!! uploaders RAWK!
