Didn't like anything about this song.

The first half is amazing. The rest of the song, a little bit confused...

simply.......why?

Thought this was Yes for a minute, like.
What a pleasant suprise on a Tuesday afternoon - man these guys were fiun to see back at Painter's Mill
Ladies and Gentlemen... this band has come all the way down from an Acid Trip just to play for you.... please welcome Crack The Sky!!
Didn't know they had crack "attics" back in '75.  {#Think}
Bill - Oops it looks like the album name is Crack Attic.

Ween sometimes sounds like this.  Or this sometimes sounds like Ween...
so cool to hear Crack The Sky again!

Why, YES! ALL of those.

I tried uploading some, but all my efforts were lead. All those words in my head.
Something's wrong with the moon, my friend.
There's safety in numbers and numbers don't lie. Don't cry.

Don't give up. If anyplace, this is the place for some appreciation of the progressive, yet melodic music along with the composition, arrangement, and humor of this band.

What would you suggest? Lighten up McGraw? Nuclear Apathy? Safety In Numbers?
Great song from a very good band.  I was in an edgy rock band in my youth in the late 70's and we did a couple of Crack The Sky tunes. Very under rated band here, check out Live Sky. In the best W.C. Fields voice..... "Ladies and Gentlemen, This band has come all the way down from an acid trip just to play for you. Please welcome, Crack The Sky"
I wish I could see a video for this. The outfits... the hair... yikes.
It's quirky.
Therefore I like it.
Really good song from a group that didn't get as much attention as the should have.
Obviously not all music from the 70's was quality. This is really a weak imitation of some of the better efforts from the period. Not surprised I never heard of this band . . . they surely wouldn't have made it with this crap.
I have never heard this group before. Bowie meets Yes.
New from Spinal Tap ?
Mind Baby is a good one as well, very much of its time, but quite a gulity pleasure {#Cool}

Sounds like Grizzly Bear were fans of these guys. {#Think}
I remember these guys in the late 70's when they were big in Baltimore. Saw them a few times. You'd catch a great show, then a real dud. I recall the band being subject to Palumbo's(?) moodiness at their live shows.

I always liked "Ice" more than the rest of their stuff.

Sounds very much like the percussion section from Yes.
Pedestrian plodding percussion.
If I had ever been here before on another time around the wheel
I would probably know just how to deal
With all of you. . . .

ooooooo laaaaa laaaaa...... the singer is coming from all angles
reminds me of ELO
Love this! In fact, it just came up on my iPod yesterday on my way home from work.

One of the most brilliant of the '70's bands. They are up there with Captain Beyond. This is a very good song, not as good as Surf City or Robots for Ronnie, but still brilliant. Anyone that doesn't like Crack the Sky can... lick my crack.

Is this a cover of a Spinal Tap song?

Maybe that's because it is 70's prog rock? {#Think}

I wish everyone could hear quality vintage tube audio gear in good repair.  The warmth and intimacy of the sound makes digital and solid state sound cold, artificial and hard by comparison.  I have a basement full of hoarded quality tube gear that I love.

Sounds like 70's prog rock, almost. But not good prog rock...

You need to acquaint yourself with the meaning of the word great.  Particularly if your going to use it three times in a row.

Cloud Cult - Journey Of The Featherless
Crack the Sky - Ice

Holy Cow... these are a lot alike in sound

Heard it again...yes, agreed, very random...and differently good for the mix.
That was ... random. Heh. Edit. Alexandra, your comment was so much better than mine, that's exactly what I meant to say.

Ah thank you! Memories of Maryland are always great. Great band who were also really great live. Their Surf City title would also play well on Radio Paradise! Unfortunately, this band never got promoted right.
very nice music ... but what the hell did they smoke??

Very interesting...check out the Wikipedia blurb (circa Jan 2008)...you may have to correct it for the Wiki-world? that's Mr. Plow at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crack_The_Sky
Crack the Sky is GREAT! I have their first two vinyl albums and have been seriously thinking about getting the CD's. This band was very creative and I just dig their stuff.
I'm afraid of this band!
Takes me back to Middle School. Still holds up, too. Fantastic!
OMG- I didn't think anyone else even KNEW Crack the Sky existed! ThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyou
I love it when RP plays some of my favorite obscure bands!

...true enough, and that's the nice thing about eclecticism, but this one's a bit too pompous for my taste, anyhow. Very much of its progrock time, I think (and I'm prepared to be embarrassed if it turns out to be modern).
Different, which is nice.........
This would be hilarious if it weren't so annoying.
Flash from the past! We know Crack the Sky here in Santa Cruz!
I was a college rep for CBS Records back in the day and promoted these guys quite a bit. One of my favorite kinda prog/more rock bands. Ice was from their best album IMHO. The others were a bit less produced, and John Palumbo was more influential in the sound, me thinks.
ick
I heard of them from a Buddy in N.O. He has all the albums...the real vinyl things. Non-Compact Disks kido!
Bawlmer, hon. Chekkemout at Hammerjacks.
Spinal Tap parody?
Great to hear Crack the Sky! Let's hear Surf City by them - please!
Spinal Tap ?
This is very reminiscent of the style of Camel, which I'm not sure is a good thing or bad. Quite a retro sound, anyhow.

You ain't kidding. I was quite the "Prog Rocker" back in the day, but don't remember these guys. At first I thought it must have been a Squire side project. LOL
Indeed...never heard of them-who are they? Very Yes like, early Yes I mean. Or Focus?
I'm quite shocked this has an overall rating of only 5.7 (as of 20 May 2005) - this merits a 7, at least!

Crack the Sky! One of the few benefits growing up in MD in the '70s. Do Bongs! Haven't said that in like almost 30 yrs either.

I've been listening to CTS since the mid 70s (and that was in San Antonio!) - I believe they're out of the Ohio River Valley area, not Baltimore. And apparently, they do a cover of Genesis' "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)" on a tribute album called "Supper's Ready", which I'd be very curious to hear...

Supurb!
What the hell is this?! This is like nothing I've heard before! I need to hear more of this.
Crack the Sky Alway's nice to hear an amazing band that is still rockin today. Let's hear more.

hey! this is cool!
The first 4 albums from this band are excellent, but don't even bother with the ones after that. Porcupine Tree's In Absentia album has a closer feel to the early CTS albums than anything CTS did since Safety in Numbers.
incredible....Crack the sky popped into my head ealer and I thought "wonder if i'll ever hear them on RP...nah, it'll never happen"

This actually is quite old. I listened to it in the early 80's. If I remember correctly they came out of the Baltimore music scene. I still have this in vinyl. BTW, Bill, how bout some "Pink Flamingo's"? I have to google and get more details.

I was amazed when I moved out of the Baltimore area for college, and found that nobody else in the world had ever heard of CTS. good band.
Baltimore is pretty well represented on RP from Crack the Sky to Lake Trout -- running the gammut in time and quality (take that to mean whatever you like). Now if someone could find some Pornflakes for RP to review and put in the rotation.
I too haven\'t heard this song since the \'70\'s when I would listen to my brother practice playing bass along with this song. What great music, what great memories. Wow. It made me stop working to listen.
This is something Spinal Tap should latch onto - or is it just too stereotypical to parody?
Crack The Sky....WOW...cant get enough of this great band from my youth...there is not a bad song on this whole cd...and they are STILL putting out great tunes
I dig.... How\'s the rest of the album? bc
Growing up in the Baltimore area I am a huge fan. It is a shame that this band never got the recognition they deserved.
:D haven't heard this song in like a zillion years!! man, what memories, great freakin' choice !
Never heard this song or artist before. I like it a lot. Thanks for the intro...
I made an error when I posted this song. It is not on White Music, it is on the self-titled \'Crack the Sky\' album. Sorry for the mixup, looking forward to hearing it!
