Good morning mister sunshine, you brighten up my day.
Come sit beside me in your way.
I see you every morning, outside the restaurants,
The music plays so nonchalant.

Lonely days, lonely nights. Where would I be without my woman?

First few moments of the song I thought this was a Beatles song I had somehow missed......Bee Gee's may have gotten a bad rap being labled as a "disco band" but they were incredibly gifted musicians
It always amazes me when I read comments where people have “never heard” this song or that song, despite the song being a worldwide Top Ten at the time. When this song was out, it seemed to be on the radio every 5 minutes.
I've always thought the production/arrangement on this one made it a pretty 'great' little pop song. The horns, orchestration, banging piano...
Different for its time.
Eight years before Saturday Night Fever, which is an eternity in pop/rock music.

How far right from Chicago do you need to go when coming down from the north to run into YOU?

 Pretty far my friend. Pretty far...

Wow. Working away and hearing a decent cover of a Beatles tune. After it's over - pull up the screen to see who it is. Bee Gees!?! Now I'm conflicted. I liked it. But I know that I don't like the Bee Gees. I'm not allowed to. I'm an old rocker. I went to disco demolition at Comiskey. I made fun of people who listened to disco. But I liked the song. But I can't like the song. But it was pretty good. But... Oh crap.

This is from well before their disco era; they had a number of hits in the late 1960s and early '70s before going into the dance/disco realm around 1975 or so.  They were considered part of the "British Invasion" of the early '60s - though by way of Australia in their case.
You should be playing the First of May by The Bee Gees today!

The Bee Gees were one of my fave groups in the 60's - NY Mining Disaster, I Started A Joke (which was probably a premonition of their future Disco days which made them ultra-famous), I've Got To Get A Message To You etc.

ODESSA is still one of my go-to albums for the BGs

Saturday Night Fever and the Disco era ruined it for me for the band but most stuff prior was great

Totally agree with the Odessa album, I was a little girl when that came out, and started to collect the Bee Gee albums, but whoops.... Saturday Night Fever came and everyone liked the Bee Gees lol..... I had to keep quiet that I really liked them, but everyone I knew did not bother with their earlier stuff which is what got me onto them..... Now, in my 50s, I can sure appreciate and openly now too lol....
{#Sorry}
 Haven't heard that for a while.Very simple song. But I like it.  Thanks!

A great song.
Wow...Bee Gees on RP!?
This sounds like some very early material of theirs, as in "pre-disco".  That's a definite plus to hear something unique from a famous pop band like the Bee Gees.

well....I was going to comment on BillG's behalf saying "YES, REALLY!" and then I saw your GIF and now I just have to laugh cuz that's a funny one!

Long Live RP!  as in Stayin' Alive!

YEAH! From way back in the day! I forgot how much they sounded like ELO and The Beatles back then! Wonderful song, great mems!
This song is OK, but I'd rather hear "To Love Somebody", or better yet Al Green's version of "How can you mend a broken heart?".

Bring it on!  I never understood how much this band added to our culture until recently.
Ahhh, back when the Bee Gees were good (i.e. before they went disco.)  {#Wink}  Thanks, Bill!

Really Bill?

Really?
A big part of my growing up. Love this.
 those harmonies were spectacularly effective in a surreal rush of sound to the senses.. {#Cheers}
Never mind the (deserved) stigma this band has, this song is great.  Thanks for playing it!

Pre-disco. The Gibbs brothers had a string of breathy, angsty, tightly-constructed vocal hits up through this one.

Then came the 70s.
Nice to hear this here. This song comes along on every wedding anniversary of my younger sister. An ode from my brother in law to his wife:

Lonely days, lonely nights. Where would I be without my woman?
Bee Gees? Seriously? {#Beat}
A great band. Too underrated.

Nope-I'm going with "I Started A Joke" or "I've Gotta Get a Message to You".  Here's to you, Robin (even if Mike Myers ripped off your smile)!

my first 6 in a while.
AAHHH... Pre disco Bee Gees. A definate guilty pleasure for me.
I agree that this is the best from the Brothers Gibb, but how much is that really saying? Not RP material, I think. :oops:
The first \"3\" in recent memory for me.

In a very small group of Bee Gee's tunes that are listenable.
Lonely days.... Lonely nights... Where would I be without my RP?
Well since we\'re talkin\' \'bout the BeeGees, I\'m kinda partial to Nights on Broadway...
definitely the best cut the band recorded
Whether you like them or not, the brothers Gibb represented what's popular music, like few others did.
good song...funny how you can discover that a disco band had some great stuff before disco.
The only Bee Gees song still worth listening to after all these years. Thanks for adding it to the playlist.
Hearing this again is like revisiting my old junior high school - not nearly so bad as I remember it! Still seems to go on a little long... Do I hear some Sargent-Pepper-envy?
GREATLY APPRECIATED BILL!!! Really good song from the day, and from a band that gets too little respect. Of the VH1 specials someone mentioned.. I too didn\'t know just how much of an influence they had until one of them.. and to see that even after *disco was dead* they still helped behind the scenes and collaborated on some pop hits that they would have been scorned for by the new rock-N-rollers of the day ... Very Cool! .... and Yes, I did buy the Sgt Peppers\' movie because it was a nicely contemporary take on the Beetles work ... cool!
Regardless of what one may think of the rest of the Bee Gees\' output, this is a really great song.
R.I.P. Maurice Gibb Eerily I\'ve been listening to the Bee Gees almost constantly (outside of RP of course) for the last 2 weeks since I caught their special on NY Eve.
