I do love this sequence: it leaves me with visions of the opening credits of PCU in my head, but I don't mind that either.

Can't help but sing along with that chorus!
Catchy tune, even if I can't understand what they're saying.  The same can be said of a lot of Talking Heads songs, too. {#Lol}

Tower of Power at Tips uptown (the old original at the end of Napoleon) ... A jazz player I knew asked "Where'd they fit the people? The band fills the joint to over capacity!".
When I rode by on my bmx bike the sounds from the opening door about knocked me over.

Agreed.  Clearly worth of an average of at least 7.5 (only to account for those people who are unable to move their hips).
Ah, dangerous music...I once had "Oye, Isabel" in my head for a couple of days. Earworm-torture, yes, but at least the song is a great one.

Really love the EQ on the bass guitar in this song.

"Para Donde Vas" does not appear on this CD. As mentioned in an earlier post, it does appear on the "Phenomenon" soundtrack.

I just discovered that the sax family is a lot bigger than I realised:

Just look at the size of that stand, you could mount a small cannon on that.

There's a guy who does a whole show based on all these different saxophones

Music from New Orleans comes in many wonderful flavors. ¡Muy Bueno!

A decent band but this song isn't the best sampling of their music. Better representations of their music might be "Fortune Teller" or "Benny's Cadillac". The former being on the slower/darker side and the latter being a fun party song showing the band's potential. Just my $.02 though.

Now, I know this song isn't on RP too frequently — but it feels like it is to me. I wonder why that is? Perhaps it's played on the radio here in the Bay Area.

Maybe if I liked Spanish. Or FAT. . . .
OOOKKAAYYYYY having some fun now!
LOVE this song!

It is also on the Phenomenon soundtrack (1996 movie with John Travolta. Kyra Sedgwick, Forest Whitaker, and Robert Duvall).

I actually have the cd and listen to it fairly frequently. It also has songs by J.J. Cale, Jewel, Bryan Ferry, Peter Gabriel, Eric Clapton, Taj Mahal, Marvin Gaye, and others.

You must not know a whole lot about "Latin Music".
The idea, generally speaking, is to have fun and dance - for which this song is very well suited indeed!

I wasn't aware that there was a "cost" factor involved in the quality and enjoyment of RP music.

Can't say I've ever heard this song on the radio before...It's one of my favorites on the Tin Cup sound track. No joking. The golf movie with Kevin Costner and Cheech Marin.

And if you really have some lungs, try this baby on for size. My dad played one when he was with Spike Jones. "> " ...Both Milt Hinton and Sidney Bechet played sarousaphone in addition to their other instruments. Bechet takes a bass sarousaphone solo on "Mandy Make Up Your Mind" with Clarence Williams, Louis Armstrong,, and Eva Taylor circa November 11, 1924 with Louis playing a delightful obbligato to Bechet's low note foray. (Okeh label) I believe this is the only recording of jazz sarousaphone. Cheers, Steve Barbone ..." You can also find the Double B Flat Contrabase Sarousphone in museums. It could hit the lowest possible audible base note -- about 32 cycles per second. Made people lose control of their bowels, it did. https://www.contrabass.com/pages/sarrus.html

Baritone sax on the left, bass sax on the right. That's BIG. And rare. Take a deeeep breath: Here's one complete with a saxophone player attached, and the same player with a soprano sax (James Carter, found (click here))
Thank god I'm allowed to travel to....
Hmm... A man called adam, and then the Iguanas. Today is May 11 revisited?

Alas, Al Quaida was operating under Hussein's direct collaboration and building Weapons of Mass Destruction. Thus we HAD to invade Iraq. It's all in the security briefings, haven't you heard? Great follow to A Man Called Adam and quite the infectious tune. Likeable, certainly.

There used to be an afternoon radio show here in Memphis and the hosts would do "Time out for Spanish," where they would generally say something terribly offensive in Spanish. The evil empire (Clear Channel) bought out the station and sent the guys packing. This song reminds me of that because they would always play this as the opening to that segment of their show...
hmmm.....
these guys were pretty much discovered by Jimmy Buffett, I first saw them when they played in the parking lot preshow for buffett around 93, or 94. They have better songs than this, but still a keeper.

Excellent. Quieremos mas Iguanas.
Just what I need, who said I was tired. Great band. Great Sound
Great Drummer too - Doug Garrison, One of the most low-key people you'll ever meet. He used to practically live at the bar/resturant I worked at in Downtown Memphis when I was in college (The North End)
Who says the saxophone is boring!? What a SOUND this band has. YOW!!
