Not my favorite Cocteau Twins song. But still nice to listen to. I do love the Cocteau Twins, though. The first time I heard them (25 or so years ago) I was under the influence of some fungus and they had quite an effect on me - still do. It always makes me happy to hear them played here :)
Truly awesome album, find myself 'visiting' the first two albums more frequently tho! Had the honour of seeing the Cocteaus about five times. Liz Fraser is truly an incredible singer - if there is still any doubters check out 'Song to the siren'

...meccano domino...

A great album!
25 years and I'm still a BIG fan!

How perfectly put! This music sounds like the lowest of Enya and Kate Bush thrown together. And, much to my surprise, it gets even worse in the process... Or was it all just supposed to be one great juxtaposition to the next song?
It's hard to believe this is from 1984.  Sounds much more modern... at least parts of it do.
Genius...much like Enya...they made a career out of singing gibberish
This takes me right back to Dublin where I first heard this song...happy days!
Huh? She wants a Funnel Cake? Must be some PA Dutch thing!
Welcome, my son...

I don't know how many hours I spent listening to this album, back in the early-mid '80s, absolutely stoned, trying to decipher the words (because, hey, we all thought there really was a language behind it all), never quite getting there, but enjoying it regardless.

It's just the language of music. {#Smile}

...so nice to hear this again...
Ahhh, that was awesome to hear again! Makes me sad at the same time, because I doubt that we will ever have music as rich and as truly orginal as that ever again. Oh how I miss 4AD from the 80's and 90's. Once in a lifetime era, that was.

Clever.
can just imagine the smoky club in the 80s .... if you don't like this check the stones segue

Odd.  Very odd indeed.  {#Rolleyes}

Absolutely. Love it.

C'mon... they are the Cocteau Twins... they sound better each day.

I prefer the hamfisted but crunchy original to this lite-weight Lost In The Aether version.
I was introduced to this band by a dear friend...RIP, Danny.  You were a great little brother with impeccable taste in music.

My musical education began with this album - it was the first *good* album I ever bought - and this is the best track on the album IMHO.   Brings tears to my eyes and takes years off me.   10 is not enough.

amen to that.
Seeing them live was an amazing and surreal experience.

Now, "Musette and Drums" please!

aye, Donimo.

And yes! Musette and Drums.... awesome track.   Another sure-fire 10.

Interesting typo.... Yes, 4AD was quite the label in it's time. They're still putting out music in 2007! But from the 80's don't forget Colourbox, Dif Juz, Clan of Xymox, The The, Bauhaus, Michael Brooks, Throwing Muses, Wolfgang Press, Lush, etc....

Yeah, and don't forget the Pixies!

yeah 'cocteau'... sounds well on 192... rich...
Oh wow - this is bringing back memories!  I first heard Cocteau Twins when a friend loaned me her cassette while I was visiting her in Dublin.  I've been hooked on them ever since. This is one of my favourites.

I think they are singing about dolls from their childhood, but that's just a guess. . . shakylegs wrote:

Wow, I never thought I'd hear this song on the "air." Thanks Bill. Nice song. Good memories.

Great album, but maybe not the best track from it. A very unique sound, especially in its day.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM. Oh my god, how I miss it. Great song Bill!!! :claps:
Play the REAL Domino by Van the Man. I heard him do it live last night (July 4, 2007) under the stars here in Ottawa, capital of Canada.
neat.
Ah, the cutesy-pie sugar candy sweet twee sounds of the Cocteau Twins, one of my 80s soundtracks. Sounds a bit dated these days, but maybe that's just me. A very distinctive sound, although they weren't always as cutesy-pie - their first album was very earthy and dark. Worth a 6 for the memories.
I'm giving it a low 7 simply because I don't know exactly what to make of it. I definitely want to hear this some more.
1st! The whole album is amazing and it puts me in a dream-like daze.
