i just went to our local theater's wednesday classic movie series last week, and saw Pillow Talk. this song always reminds me of the movies from that era...and i imagine doris day or shirley maclain sambaing (or whatever the dance is) to things like this.

This isn't the Yardbird's most enlightning. Perhaps Bill is trying to put something out there that is accessible (don't you love that word?) to most listeners while exhibiting the improvisation that is essential to jazz.

Nice choice! Could be a nice introduction to Bird for those who might be put off by his more "hardcore" be-bop pieces, but I would choose "salty peanuts" for a non jazz radio. Throw them in the deep end ...

Imagine being in around NYC in the late 50s, early 60s and seeing Davis, Coltrane, Parker, Monk, Getz, Evans, etc, etc, etc... LIVE, and in fairly small venues.
It would sort of be like being in Italy in the time of daVinci and Michelangelo.
