I saw him and his band in a very small venue in 2002 touring to support this record, they were quite good and he very likeable.  He just produced a record of new takes of his mother's (Carly Simon) hits with her that is pretty interesting.  Just remebered, his cover of "Time of the Season" from this CD is very cool.

He is the son of James Taylor and Carly Simon. His sister, Sally Taylor, is also a musician.

That's a pretty nice vocal gene pool.  I wonder if Sally sounds like Carly?

No doubt that he sounds like his dad.  Given that, he inherited quite a fine voice!  I wish I had a golden throat like that.

I was thinking about how interesting it is that his voice is so close to his dad's. Funny how we always think of kids taking after their parents' looks, but I never thought about the same thing carrying over to the voice. Makes sense I suppose. I wonder if there's been a scientific study?

Not much, to be sure. He certainly owes more of a stylistic debt to his dad than does, say, Jacob Dylan. That said, and pop-cultural-Oedipal machinations aside, I like this. Except maybe the xylophone or whatever that is tinkling in the background here and there.
