Shades of Dr. Hook, Dan Hicks, John Prine...all the mad tricksters that make the serious self-indulgent singer-songwriers bearable.
A solid 9 from me for the message.
I wish Jack White would send me a Fiber Optic Jesus.

Didn't have money this month to give...then you play this!! I'm digging deep bill to donate. You've never let me down.

I had such high hopes for u Bill then u do this.

2003. Cool!
Anything Lips is awesome!!!

More than a hint of Dr Hook in there, and that's OK with me.

{#Lol}
Do any of you recall the "glow in the dark" religious icons that were sold at Knott's Berry Farm?  It was a hoot.  Different size statues of Jesus, Mary, crosses, praying hands, etc.; also skulls, dice and all manner of glowing things.  I don't know if that little shop is still there.

The lyrics of this song make me even more confused: Are Jack and Meg Married, Divorced, Brother/Sister??

Divorced but for some reason while they were married they dropped hints that they were siblings.  For added quirkiness, White was Meg's last name not Jack's.  He changed it when they got married and kept it after the divorce.  For even more quirkiness, his second wife took the last name White and named their kids with that surname too.

I gotta get me one of them!
LOL!! oh my gad, i finally heard a song on RP I do not like. nOW I understand. Hilarious moment of clarity, sorry I guess I'm just talking to myself.

The people I have told about RP are gonna think I'm nuts if they tune in and hear this. It's not just bad, it's embarassing.

Actually, if they're with the program, they'll get it and enjoy it for what it is. Ya can't just listen to RP for one or two songs. The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.
I like the psychedelic aspects of the song. Done very well.

I've just been inspired to write my first ever comment... Sorry, but I found this song just plain boring. Unless you're a fanatic bible basher, I can't see the interest in broadcasting it. Otherwise thanks for generally great mix!
Huh... I dunno what's bible-bashing about this. In fact, I'm pretty sure the bible has a word or two about idolatry ;) --d
You'll find articles saying both things, which is what this Lips song is all about. But their publicity angle has always been that they were brother and sister. But their lyrics, actions and friends all say that they are an ex-married couple.

Brother & sister, according to this BBC article.

They were once married and then tried to promote themselves as a brother-sister act. But, obviously the truth leaked out! It always does...
I created an account just so I could log in and say how much this song annoyed the hell out of me and to give it the lowest vote. Seriously... this song is THAT bad.

Thank you for playing this --- brilliant backstage tour craziness from the Lips! Bonkers and fun and sweet.
I don't know if the lyrics are funny or not; I can't get beyond how absolutely horrible the music is. I had to interrupt my housecleaning to come and give this a 1. Strange, since I generally like Flaming Lips.
Hilarious
Never heard of these guys, but this song is hilarious. Keep the new stuff coming - the weirder the better
The guy still can\'t sing. Too bad Jack wasn\'t singing this otherwise great tune.
No can do! His voice grates on my nerves. I\'m reaching for the MUTE button before I get audio fatigue...
Amazingly, they have put their entire new album online and included a nifty audio player to play it on their web site! Flamming Lips Web-Site
The lyrics of this song make me even more confused: Are Jack and Meg Married, Divorced, Brother/Sister??
quite original. I applaud the attempt. compare this to Tom Jones and the Cardigans's version of Burning Down the House that played 30 minutes ago, and it's a vast improvement in answering the brief of "Eclectic", "Intelligent" and "Rock" keep up these original gems.

Brother of Frank Black.
Yes, it is Jack White of the White Stripes. Listen to the lyrics closely.
Would they be referring to Jack White of \"The White Stripes\"??
The most innovative group working today. This may not be the best example of innovation, but it\'s a great laugh!

I also dig the Brave Combo. Cool stuff. This is a great set of music, now Hendrix.

Brilliance... Lovin the Lips on RP!
They deserve a 7 for \"testicular fortitude\".
Quite listenable, and deliciously entertaining lyrics.
