I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change

The world is closing in
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers
The future's in the air
I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change

Walking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever
I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change

The wind of change
Blows straight into the face of time
Like a stormwind that will ring the freedom bell
For peace of mind
Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to say

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change

This track was a go to for the, ummm, dancers for their final song with the nasty fuzzy blanket they would haul up on stage at our local college nudey bar...or so I was told once...

Quite possibly.

i just saw where Klaus has changed the lyrics of this song so that it doesn't sound so 'romantic' about Russia.  no more folloiwng the Moskva...he sings of Ukraine now.  you go, Klaus.
As my brother-in-law used to quip when this would come on the local rock station, "I bet you didn't know I could whistle in German", and then he would start whistling along to the tune.

Always thought he said "Down to Donkey Kong"
Ain't nobody following the Moskva anymore!  Ha ha ha!

Ich fand das Lied schon immer peinlich. Es taugt einfach nur als Zeitzeuge.
I always found that song awkward. It just suits as witness of that time period.

Check out the Winds of Change podcast...it's the story of how this song was written to help bring down the Berlin Wall...or was it????

So yes, I'm smiling about this song... but with a good, warm feeling in my German heart!

Well, it seems the wind is blowing in the opposite direction right now.
Unfortunately, this song is back to our minds...  Their meaning seems to have finished.
Damn, the sentiments in this song feel like they're 300 years old instead of just 30. It was a magical time but, sadly, the Soviet Union (or something even more evil) is BACK threatening the world with nuclear annihilation all over again.

The more things change...

Perhaps it came out at that special time for me, my late teenage years. While the world was going through some major changes. Some how, the future didn't seem as scary as Mutually Assured Destruction.

Puzzled by all the '1' ratings as well.
Nice 90s song. Brings back good memories of when I (and the girls around me) was younger
Haha! Nowt wrong with a bit of cheese, Gromit! 😁

Up there with John Lennon and Otis Redding tracks utilising whistling in art! 🤣
This is a 'period' piece.  Takes me back...I thoroughly enjoyed the magic of the moment..
Oh what is it. Kitsch or not. The song is just beautiful. Classic rock music

Can’t blame the Scorpions for this, since the CIA wrote it anyway: https://crooked.com/podcast-series/wind-of-change/

This proves Bill is indeed very much a human being and not the perfect musical cyborg.
What a clunker!
I'm european and I would like to apologize for this song - worldwide! {#Silenced}

worked with a guy who looked just like this, (left his wife for the daughter of a Nazi war-criminal)
 Scorpions rocked

Jesus! I can't believe Bill is playing this. Sir Charles, what do you think about this one? "Turrible ... turrible!"
The whistling sounds like the beginning of a spaghetti western. can't be the same band that opened Roger Waters The Wall
When i look at this song from the distance, it was actually a herald for all the bad things that will happen to the East European countries, from 90-ties onwards. When we were still naively believing in Western democracy, and moral values, what fools we were. Tovarish Lenin please come back, all is forgiven...
I liked what Winter said{#Arrowd}{#Lol}.  One of the worst......songs.......evah.
Pure camembert!
Though the song does very little for me...I respect and like that it wasn't expected here on RP.

It's all good. I haven't heard this in years. Where's my Bic lighter?!

I'm not going to apologize, I'm not going to feel guilty about it, and I don't care what anyone thinks.  I love this song.

I don't come here to listen to the same pap I can't abide on commercial stations.

This is what's great about RP - they play a little bit of everything!   It's not that bad, really.  Now if I can only scrub

What about...
Mr. Gorbachev - help USA to allow freedom of speech.
(and 99 other civil rights).

What about...
Mr. Gorbachev - give America retirement and health-insurance
help them to trash...
their 6 trillion Air-Conditions systems that destroy this planet
(to mention 1 of 99.999 other inviro-mental sins).

Just teach them, dear "Gorbi", how they can avoid

and their ways.

That would actually be cool.  Its one of my guilty pleasures.  Eclectic mix people - that's RP

I still have a copy of Lonesome Crow
OK you broke the ice, there's a couple of UFO songs that would be nice additions.

well, it's not often that i have to fight the urge to run & turn off the music, but it happened with this one. Having a truly rotten day, and this has just about sent me over the edge to vomiting. {#Puke}
So this looks like its getting played about once every 2 1/2 years...seems about right.
SCORPIONS "F" OFF!

Goodness me! This is appalling. In all the years I've been listening to RP, I think this is the first time I've had to switch off!

OK so we'll put you down as undecided.{#Wink}
You don't often see an entire page of comments for one tune.

I happen to hate the Scorps (well, I can tolerate Rock You Like a Hurricane) but God bless you Bill for going outside the box like this.
I'm confused. Everyone freaks out when Abba's Fernando is played after Jenny Lewis, but this is ok?? I just don't get it. I'd take Abba any day over this. I guess I'm in the minority as usual.....
I'm with you, Bill!  {#Mrgreen}
I like it for a change too.  I never thought it was all that bad.
I love how even the critics on RP manage to present their case with such eloquence and humour. I admit that the Scorpions is not what I would have expected but I agree with California's Whispering Bob Harris that this song really evokes memories of a changing time, fall of the Berlin Wall etc.

I was 'into' this band about then, but probably haven't listened to them, Asia or even Magnum since.

Thanks for the memories ... :-)
I liked hearing what Bill had to say about this song and what it reminded him of, Berlin Wall coming down, etc.  Thanks, Bill.

At least they have some palpable talent in the Schenker brothers (?) and the vocalist had metal-worthy pipes.  I liked some of their stuff in the 80s...even bought the World Wide Live CD.  Period specific stuff but not your typical RP fare. {#Think}

I like it. Keep bucking popular opinion, Bill!{#Moon}
Sweet!
Wow, just as schmaltzy as I remember it.

Shudder. This reminds me of drinking Mt Dew in the locker room of gym class during first period of my Freshman year in HS, just to keep myself awake at that god-awful hour.

i had to double check to see that i was still on radioparadise... the music selections here are certainly surprising at times.  i like some scorpions songs (the zoo, holiday, no one like you...), but this isn't a fav.  i honestly don't know how to rate this... hmm.
Has to be one of the most atrocious 80s album covers of all time. Perfect for what's on the album, I guess. Except the guy looks a little too country.
Does anyone remember the collection 'Power ballads'? Was played to death at my highscool in the early 90' (in sweden). Brings back a lot of memories.
Okay did somebody at RP lose a bet or what!
are they kidding me? what's next.............journey? reo speedwagon? this is 80s hairband balladry at its most insipid.
Got Any Night Ranger?
I want to second
"And how about "Love to Love" from UFO's live album?"
As for these Scorpions, I'm fine with it. I put up with Jefferson Airship, I can put up with this. If we all loved every song, well, that would be amazing.
How about "I Can't Explain" from this album? I usually dislike covers, but this one I like, for some reason.
East-Block don't Rock
OMG I love this jam!  Thank you Bill!
I love this song and was surprised to see it dissed!

it's an 8 for me
Scorpions? On RP?
How about a little Ratt, and Poison, while we're at it?

For the love of god, WHY??

I had happily forgotten about this song....
WTF? On the bright side, this isn't exactly in heavy rotation...

Awesome Bill!  While never a huge fan of the Scorpions, it does bring back memories of my brother and his red Scirocco.  Good times we had during those years!

What? No way! Hah, I used to *love* this song when I was like 12. Good memories. Thanks Bill!
Gotta love it.  Who woulda thunk it.  Scorpions on RP.  Well why not  - good tune well rendered.  That's what this station is about.  Ok - the 80's drum sticks in my craw but that's my problem.
omg.  Seriously?  Day-umm.....{#Puke}
Time to boost the rating a bit, it's not all that bad......
Bwahahahahahah!!!!! Keep it up, Bill. That ought to get under their skin. Me? I like it.
Definitely keep this in the rotation as a change of pace. I think it is fun to hear some bad big hair rock every once in a while.
8O OMG
ah that wistful wistling
This is as hilariously bad as I remember from when I was in high school. Worth a laugh again now, and then I don't need to hear it again for another 20+ years.

Now that was funny. Pay no attention to "Aww yeah"... anyone who rates every Pink Floyd song a "1" has no musical taste anyway.
could any hell be more horrible?
If I could score this -10, I would. Horrible and cliched lyrics, sing-songy vocals, amateurish song-writing, mediocre instruments, and hysterically ludicrous whistling. One of the worst songs ever by one of the worst bands ever. Congrats, 2 for 2! :P Please remove and destroy this mp3.

Rock is ok. I know rock, I have worked with rock. This, sir, is not rock. It is a boulder made of cheese. Some rock that would be cool would be some Montrose - yeah, Montrose! - from their first two albums. The Who, of course - Slip Kid, In a Hand or Face are a couple of underplayed numbers. I could go on. And, yeah, "The Zoo" would be better than this. And how about "Love to Love" from UFO's live album?

Dood. This is not "ROCK", this is a dreaded "power ballad".
