An extremely talented fella. From aspiring pro surfer before losing his front teeth at Pipeline to becoming a musician and making some pretty bloody good surf movies. All that and he's an absolute deadset top bloke

I really enjoyed Jack Johnson in 2005. It hasn't dated that much and I don't find it irritating (as I do James Blunt grrrrrr), but I do think he has made a few LPs too many of the same thing.
I admire his low key, laid back approach, and see no reason to knock him just because the middle classed surf wanabees picked up on him too.
"Cookie Jar" is still a fab JJ track.

I would agree that much of Jack Johnson's music sounds similar, but that's not a bad thing when it's all good.
The same thing could be said about any singer/song writer. They are normally acoutic guitar based songs with the same singer. Thus it will all sound somewhat alike.
Sorry if you don't get him.
Oh, and as a surfer for the last 15 years, this is truly groovy stuff to listen to on the way to the beach.

Fair enough, MD. While I admire his staying power (our original bone of contention), I'm finding his music pretty banal these days. It seems he found a formula and stuck with it, and without evolution artists stagnate in my opinion. Johnson's laid-back approach to his music -- and life -- belie his success as a platinum-selling star. Since his debut with the album "Brushfire Fairytales" in 2001, his albums have sold a total of about 3 million copies. His latest best seller is "In Between Dreams."
Pretty good for a guy who considers himself a surfer first, contributes heavily to the environment and Hawaii, and calls music a hobby. Memory indeed.
Still sucks Mr. Fish...two years later and he still sucks. At least there's still music we do agree on.
his more cheerful music (like this one) is a great accompaniment to the whisper sing (which I also can only take so much of.) A little cheering up is always a good thing.
i don't care what so many are saying! I hear Jack and put my phone on aftercall, lean back and put my feet up on my desk in the almighty cubicle. I may work for the MAN, but this gives me pause for just a couple of minutes.
