At the dawn, I woke, I was alone, rising
I called upon the force of time and space, calling
And as she came to me, I fell back down, realizing
That it's cool for you to love me now, I'm everything

Everything called tried and true
I see the light in you
Can you dig in my soul
Could you smell my whole life

You bent the edge, eclipsed and turned around, alive
And though the dark sparked rays of violent light, blinding
I went about the job of sewing thoughts and feelings
Oh some were good, some bad, I felt the cries of healing

'cause tried and true
I see the light in you
Can you dig in my soul
Could you smell my whole... life

Rise my darling, you've been awake too long
Let me rest in time while I blow your mind

At the dawn, I woke, I was alone, rising
I called upon the force of time and space, calling
And as she came to me, I fell back down, realizing
That it's cool for you to love me now, I'm everything

Everything called tried and true
I see the light in you
Can you dig in my soul
Could you smell my whole... life

Sounds like he's disguising his voice while phoning in a kidnapping ransom. Doesn't sound much like the voice on "Transdermal Celebration."
Gawd I love this song.  Not that fond of Ween's other stuff, but this one always makes me want to crank it up.

Ween doesn't try anything.

Okay. I like it...7.
I like this, never heard them before, but a bit unique and cool - a solid 6.5.

Love this!
I feel absolutely inept for the following comment: I just don't get Ween.
But I like this enough. I do. I just don't get it.
Has anyone figured out why their album titled '12 Golden Country Greats' has only ten tracks? It's probably best to not ask these types of questions with Ween. Just enjoy the weirdness.

Did Ween play at the "Summer Festival" in Quebec City?  The album cover suggests that they enjoyed some of the sidewalk cafes in downtown Quebec—one of the oldest cities in North America.

Excellent studio sound.  Unfortunately the lead vocals suck on stage.  Just watch live concert footage on Youtube.  Kind of a bummer.  Great tracks played on RP, thought.  Thanks, RP!

When I saw them the vocals were very good, but that was over a decade ago.
Wasn't able to purchase this thru iTunes. Hmmm....
Lots of Ween recently, I am digging it.

Sounds great on vinyl also. Great song!

I smell 'ya!
I've never seen Ween, but this review of a recent show in my town caught my attention.

Ahh, the subversive brilliance of Ween! The ability to mimic nearly any musical genre perfectly—while simultaneously mocking each one with hilarious deadpan lyrics.

OK.  I'll bite. Who is Ween mocking in this song?

FWIW, this is my favourite Ween song.  The other stuff.....  some of it is too gross out high school like, the music uneven.

Man, that refrain was irritating. Not bad otherwise.
Nice beat.  {#Bananajam}

Singer's voice is beyond annoying, though...  {#No}
I love this whole album, a lot of people did not like it compared to their others, but it is one of my favorites of theirs.{#Yes}
This is my favorite Ween song {#Music}
this is one of my all-time favorite songs.
More Ween please.

Wrong its. It's about masturbation, but it's rearing its ugly head. I like ween too.
I hope all their music doesn't sound like this

put this one on the Soundtrack for Committing Disturbing Acts...
love this band... why no "push the little daisies"
I keep expecting him to say "Rentaghost" anyone else remember that?

I wonder what the voice changing machine they use is called.
Either they recorded the vocals separately and mixed them at a slower rate, but more likely they just used a pitch shifter.

I guess I'd have to spend the night with them to fully appreciate this song. But I'd really rather not -- and I suppose they'd rather not either -- not that there's anything WRONG with that... Not sure if figuring out that you can pause significantly between "whole' and "life" to give the phrase another meaning qualifies as "genius" -- but hey, Enjoy!
Leave it to Ween to creep me out once again. Love these guys.
RP does it again, another new band for me to check out. I need another three lives :D

YES! WEEEEEEEEEEEN!
....Mommy, does that man say " Smell my hole?"... ...Oh!
the brownest band in show biz
to reiterate: great song. now play beacon light.
I really love this - yet another great song I discovered because of RP :-)

Very mollusky sounding. I saw them at a show here and they rocked out pretty good. Then a bunch of girls got on stage and started doing the drunk girl dance. Which, I guess is ok if you're a drunk guy
ive been incredibly intoxicated and seen that dance many times unfortunately. never does it for me.

Novelty Act?? I quess I don't get the joke. Just a good song by a good band. :D

*BUMP* Just too apt a description of this song......
Dead on! Freaky!
I've tried and tried since "Chocolate and Cheese" or whatever it was called, but I just can't get into this band. They score points for originality and (sometimes) audaciousness though.

LOL! Yes, there are many songs on this station more annoying than this one! But then again there are many that are enthralling. That's why we all tune in, n'est ce pas?

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. It's a decent tune, by a novelty act.
Look again, amigo. They have a history of novelties (to their credit), but they are more of a band today than most I've seen. Hopefully, Bill'll play "The Argus" for us.
The more I hear it, the more I like it. What's with the current pop obession with high voices, anyhow? This gives me that nice thrilling feeling at the bottom of my stomach.
Unique voice.
Not bad, but it reminds me of my grandmother nagging me when I was a kid...."Pick your head up! Stop talking into your chest!"...shudder.

the very fact that you lump tull and quicksilver into some kind of similar group with each other says to me that you have a lot to learn about 60's rock music. and this song is in a different category altogether. oh, and hey, you can bag on quicksilver if you want, but stay away from my tull!
odd
something about this bugs me....sounds a tad precious to me.
WEEN RULES!

Almost as annoying as Crash Test Dummies. Nothing more really than just a novility act. Can't imagine actually listening to an entire album of this.

OK, I can't deal with this one any more. When the sitar comes in it sounds like a bad outtake from the Rutles. And the single-entendre about smelling someone's whole life was funny for the first couple times only.

Ween is always playing out with their vocal tracks that way -- they play with everything. Nothing -- nothing -- is sacred. If y'all haven't been by their official site yet, it's worth the TRIP (notice the emphasis -- their homepage actually hurts to look at too closely -- fabulous). (click here)
This song...this whole album...is so excellent. It's on heavy rotation in my car during my hellish commute, and it somehow makes it all bearable! Brilliant. Thanks Ween! (& thanks, RP, for surpirising me at work today with this track!)

Sounds nothing like Tull. No wonder you do not like Tull, never listened to it.
this song makes me smile.

If this were Radiohead, the commentary below would be about Thom's incredible style and how they've grown. Not my favorite Ween tune, but interesting.
Question - Why the title "Quebec" I really like this CD. First discovered Ween on RP and have bought 3 CDs (via Amazon of course) since,,, but would like to know why the band titled the CD "Quebec" - anyone know? (care?)

I guess the song itself is OK, but somehow the voice always makes me think he's trying to imitate what Marlon Brando would sound like if he tried to sing - all mush with that slight echoey effect of the laughing gas I used to get at the dentist's office.
Wow. Does this get old REALLY, REALLY fast. Enough already.

Coincidence? I think NOT!
not the best album by these guys, but still a good one. the opening song sounds exactly like motorhead :-) it's hard not to love them for the sincerity of stupidity, brilliant.
Sounds like the singer needs voice lessons. That was grating. Let the good music continue!
I really enjoy this. Very cool sound....

Well, I\'m proud of those two youngsters. They started out like graduates from PBS\' Zoom, completely self-expressed with nothing to say, yet (\"Push the little daisies and let them come up!\"). Now that they\'re firmly into young-adult angst--and they\'re willing to play more instruments

Repetitious...perhaps, but i like the groove ;)
An attempt, thats all! Kinda repetitious.
