Glad you made it, welcome to the farm
Who's your daddy, I'm your daddy now
I'm here seeking only what I need
In your mind is where I'll plant my seed
It's for sure.

Let me keep you in this place you'll be better off this way
I will keep you warm and safe, you'll be better off this way
You learn to love the price you pay
Trust me dear you're better off this way

Put to bed the sun and sister moon
I'll be hiding in your dirty room
I'll go there seeking only what I need
La de da we'll stay there 'til we bleed
It's for sure

Let me keep you in this place, you'll be better off this way
I will keep you warm and safe, you'll be better off this way
I will not wake you from your sleep,
Leave you wandering counting sheep
No more sad and sunshine days
Trust me dear, you're better off this way

You'll be selling books at the airport.

Just be sure to bring ping pong balls for full effect ;-)

Wow, glad I looked this up: "The sounds of a ping pong game can be heard during the outro of the song. A Guster fan tradition involves throwing ping pong balls onstage during this part of the song when played live. Another aspect of live performances includes a pitch change on Miller's vocal mic to cause a sort of demonic effect. Furthermore, the band plays a disco dance groove to extend the song to roughly six minutes."

Sssswwwoooooon!!!
We're only making plans for Nigella.
Sounds a lot like Pinback only not quite as good.

They still do this one in concert. Just as good today as it was then.
how did this revoltingly poor tune come to ruin my morning's listening?
Very unhealthy lyrics  non?

All a bit yukky for me

Still like it and it's still the only non-happyish song I've heard from Guster.  I suppose it makes sense that they would have some.  Even Jimmy Buffet has to have a morning after Margaritaville night.

Little late in responding to this, but this is not the only melancholy song of Guster's off this album.  There is "Demons", "Getting Even" and "Rocketship" as well...all pretty solid tunes by the way...

i give this one an "eh".
they have many other much better songs.
What number should I choose for "tedious, alternating with annoying?"

Stephen Fry believes this is a very bad song and urges you not to listen to it:

"This is a very bad song and I urge you not to listen to it."

Such avuncular genius.
This one I could live without.
the lyrics really start off with some idiocy...

It's still there - a little odd to hear it at the end of a song, but it's there.

Okay, add "such great heights"...Is bill Osama Bin Layen dormant waitin' to strike again?

Looks like Bill took your advice:

8:08 am - The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
8:05 am - Guster - Airport Song
7:59 am - Alpinestars - Burning Up

7:56 am - Country Joe & The Fish - Flying High
7:52 am - Stephen Stills - Treetop Flyer

Weird, unsettled, pastiche of REM, The Police, Nirvana, Weezer, and the Replacements. Not my favorite of theirs - seems like they've grown a lot since '98.
Long time since I heard this song last
thanks Bill
dirty...oh so dirty...
Heavy on cliches.
"...every day is a winding road..." anyone else hearing Sheryl Crow?

It's a great album; lots of nice songs. But it's much more stripped down than their others---congo/bongo/djembe (or whatever) drums only.

great song to wake me up from a boring friday of work and get me psyched for happy hour!
I like this song, but actually prefer the live version off the Maine CD. This version doesn't sound as meaty and the ending is a little more anti-climatic. Still, it's good to hear. ^_^ Go Bill, go!
what a train wreck at the end...and sounds like Ozzie Osborne doing vocals but I like this band anyway

They are pretty good, and this is pretty bad, I agree
Not a Guster fan at all, yet this is very nice. Decent music, yes.
This things gets up and moves. I like it.
"You're be selling books at the airport." I met one of those guys once. Damn irritating fellow, tried to sell me some hare krishna books and he would just not accept no for an answer. Geez.

Hell yeah brotha!
Saw Guster play with the Boston Pops last year, amazing show. Also at UMD, their first "Stadium Rock" show, Black Eyed Peas opened for 'em. Spectacular shows, and all around sweet ass group. Lovin' it!
What a bunch of friggin' noise at the end- Yuck.
I love Guster...their old stuff especially. The best part of this song is the ping pong ball noise at the end. You know, where they used an actual ping pong ball. :) And also the line, "you'll be selling books at the airport." Genius.

This group rocks! Be sure to rent/borrow/buy their live concert dvd. It is most excellent. Good drivin tunes...
Who's your daddy? I like it!

really? I like Crowded House but why does every second comment refer to them? Credit where credit is due, but overkill will kill the bill.

Ooh, there's a DuranDuran thang goin' on there. (middle/vocals only)

You're right... this snog really is good. ;-) Until the harmonization came in, I didn't realize it was Guster. Saw them live in San Francisco years ago. The drummer is an amazing-to-watch freak-show -- bare hands for everything -no sticks. Wild. Snoggy.
"Snoggy?!? That's just sick good. (oooh, this is fun! thanks jerzey!)

Really like the way they let loose at the end. Good stuff from a band that continues to impress.
Guster! And some GOOD Guster too! One of my favorite bands for a long time, great live shows as well! This song and others from the first 2 albums are the best, play some more!

Why the hell hadnÂ't I heard this band before??!!!!!%@#*&º!!!!!! Darn good.
I've been a big fan of Guster for what seems like forever now. I own and enjoy every album. Do yourself a favour and pick up an album or two. Very fun listening (and singing along if you're into that sort of thing). My favourites are Goldfly and Lost and Gone Forever. As far as non-musical instruments being used in their other songs: I know that the band has at least used typewriters and a child's toy that jingles when you shake it (the songs escape me right now).

I wish I heard some Guster when I listen to RP. Oh well. It's just so exciting to hear the boys on the radio rather than my stereo.
I have not heard this in a while. Always liked the drums in this.
Ooohhh! I like it!
Long time listener, first time poster. This song drew me out of lurking... My main complaint of RP over the past few years (where has the time gone?) has been the fact that you don't play guster! Well I guess somewhere along the lines things changed (Summer, 03?) for the better! I guess it is better late than never. I hope to hear more Guster who has been one my favorite bands over the years.
like to hear more...
Excellent upload if I do say so myself
