Get a life. Nice song by a couple of lads from Manchester, released in 2003 - long before the BS in the comments was even invented

Wow... then go listen to some Debbie Gibson... you case you haven't noticed, a good portion of rock n roll for the last 60+ years has been about making a statement, either about the state of world, human nature, capitalism, greed, and yes, politics.

Not every song is happy feel good.

Ohgoshyes, the Durham report such a supergreat success. How many indictments? How many guilty verdicts?

So you don't like "woketard land". I'm guessing you prefer Fantasia.

It's amazing how much a song can sound like a Placebo song when the lead singer of Placebo is providing the vocals.

Is this some kind of joke. Trump was exonerated long ago. Guess who the real criminals are?

Let's bring this a bit more up to date:

"Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee have agreed to pay $113,000 to settle a Federal Election Commission investigation into whether they violated campaign finance law by misreporting spending on research that eventually became the infamous Steele dossier."

https://www.theguardian.com/us...

"The FBI apologized to the secret court that handles national security investigations for the way it conducted surveillance of a former Trump campaign adviser during the 2016 election, according to a court filing made public on Saturday."

https://www.npr.org/2020/01/11...

"As Edward Snowden explained, the surveillance state is critical to power retention. President Trump carried documents that outlined how this process took place as it pertained to his entry into politics, thus the raid to retrieve them."

Super song. Many thanks RP.

Your loss, apparently.  Such a view half defeats the purpose and spirit of some popular music, because more than a few of the great classics -- Masters of War, Civil War, Woodstock, Revolution, Taxman, Rockin in the Free World, Mercy Mercy, Born in the USA, Bad Moon Rising, etc. et al and hundreds more -- have been, in some form or fashion, nothing BUT comments on or views of politics, societal imbalance and the power structure.  Best of luck on your escape.   Send us a post.

I've always thought that this is one of the most KILLER SONGs out there!  Having Brian Molko sing the incendiary vocals was nothing less than GENIUS, in my opinion.  And also:  Maybe I've always been kind of a Science nerd, (and was once upon a time an Electrical Engineer, in a galaxy far, far away...), but for me, the meaning was always perfectly obvious:  Humans, and, indeed (here's where I arch one eyebrow like Mr. Spock) all life-forms on Earth, are Carbon-based, and if there's one kind of material that can't hope to survive nuclear weapons, it is Carbon-based life-forms.  Nuclear fission, or, even worse, fusion, ensures that all exposed Carbon is sent on to The Next Life.  I can imagine perfectly that the Sinister Diagram the Carbon-Kid is in possession of is How to Build a Nuclear Weapon -- dig?

Always dug this spooky wild rocker! If Rush would've had Molko — wow... The incendiary lyrics are cryptic and obscure, but it seems to be about someone really bent, with plans to build a nuclear bomb; Carbon-based life forms do not fare well in a gamma-ray breeze.
It is most amusing to read some of the political comments from 2008.

At the risk of alienating absolutely everybody, somebody else could have been president and the US still would have made most of the mistakes committed by GW Bush, Jr.

Lots of those bad decisions were the result of hyper-vigilant mass hysteria.

Except the tax cuts.  That was simply conservative Americans trying to emulate South American Neo-Marxist populists.

What? Bose? Sounds like noise in a tunnel. Bring on the Bowers & Wilkins!

lol.   Robbie Williams dreams of writing and performing an A side as good as this.   But he can't write, strum, tinkle ivories, read music, dance - in fact in can't do very much at all apart from wear a silly smirk to 'perfom' to his X factor level audience.  That's where he belongs, until a panto season finally gets him on the end of the pier - or hopefully off the end.
{#Naughty}
Brian Molko on other hand possibly has a tad more talent, bearing in mind this was a throwaway track with Alpine back in 2002, and his output with Placebo since that time.  (whilst robbie just wanted to 'feel')

Still sounds good to me.{#Dancingbanana_2}

EDIT: mercifully RP is a Robbie Williams free zone - long may it stay that way.{#Notworthy}

Really nice segue from Quicksilver Messenger Service, Bill.

No real comparison to Nicky Hopkins here, but still, it worked very well.
A lot of blind Party loyalty displayed in this thread. Hopefully that ignorance, more than anything else, is what will change in the upcoming years.

I used to hate this song with a passion. I rated it a 2. With time I've learned to tolerate the tune, and perhaps to like it, even.

I won't change my rating until I figure out how much I truly like it, though.
